How long does one have to renew a concealed handgun license after it expires? Does anyone have any suggestions for a course in the Keller, north Fort Worth area?

You have 1 year from the date of expiration to renew.  After 1 year you'll have to take a new or "original" class again.

You also cannot carry while your license is expired expect where currently allowed. (your vehicle, your property)

I teach in Dallas but there are classes EVERY weekend.   DFW GUN

I will keep that in mind thanks. Although I am looking to get a CCW to be able to carry what ever gun I choose. I have authority now to carry concealed.

Confused. Cop?  You can carry any concealed handgun now if that's the case.

Well my specific agency only allows us to carry  our duty weapon. So with the CCW I can carry any gun of my choice.

Then be sure to qualify with a semi-auto pistol vs. a revolver.

or with an out-of-state CCW with reciprocity in Texas.  there are many other ways to carry a firearm legally in Texas and not have a Texas CHL.  many CHL Instructors will tell you that it is better for you to have a Texas permit but as long as there is reciprocity it is not really any different.  the only major difference is that if you buy a gun they still have to call the NICS check in. but if you always go through w/o any hassles it doesnt change anything really.

also take Florida for example.  no requirement to notify them of an address change, it is initially valid for 5 years instead of 4 years, and best of all the concealed carry status is not tied to your Texas DL or your license plates.

i have many states in addition to Texas.  i did hear that Texas was considering only recognizing Utah resident permits, but who knows.
