I notice that this place is pretty close to the Texas State Fair Grounds.
Anyone ever been to a concert there? How bad of an area is this really? Is parking secure? What is police presence like in the area when they have events? You can't carry at concerts can you? I don't recall from my class, and I haven't been to a concert since I got my CHL. |

It's right on the backside of Fair Park. Parking will either be at one of the Fair Park lots or one of the satellite lots. I've never heard of anyone getting their vehicle broken into, but I have no doubt that it has happened. Typically they have security, usually off-duty DPD officers outside the venue and in the lots. Inside security is usually a private firm hired by the promoter. As long as you don't go wandering off into the neighborhoods there you shouldn't have any problems. Not sure if they have a 30.06 sign...sometimes they allow coolers in (they search them) and sometimes they don't. FYI Make sure you're parking in one of the legal parking lots. Unscrupulous people will cut chains on closed lots or put signs up in empty lots and charge roughly half-price for parking. Vehicles get towed from those lots. Although they usually aren't involved in other than towing the vehicles, towing companies have been known set up the illegal lots and then tow the vehicles. mm |

It's not in the best area, but the security is pretty good around the venue. 3. Parking SEEMS about as safe as parking at the AAC or any other large scale venue 4. Police presence is decent, enough to make me feel reasonably safe. 5. you can carry at a concert, I also am not sure if they have a 30.06 posted, but I don't remember seeing a listing on www.texas3006.com. I would DOUBT they have one, but every concert I've been to there had a rudimentary screening process entering the gates. |
