Alright, recently purchased my first hand gun from a store, and I am taking my CHL later this summer. My question is, am I able to carry the weapon in my car? Or is that a no-no?
I seem to remember seeing something about vehicles being considered an extension of the castle law now or some such but I cant remember, and I definitely don't want to commit a major no-no before I even have my chl. Also, if you can bring up the documents answering my question, I would really appreciate it. Thanks |

Ahhh thank you, Will have to read that real quick
thanks for the insight, somehow didnt even notice it was there
ETA: After reading the top portion, it seems I would be g2g so long as the weapon was not in plain view, that I am legally able to own the weapon in question, and that I am not commiting a crime at the time of having the weapon in the vehicle. And, as long as I can carry it premise. Is my understanding correct? |

Or can it be loaded? Sorry again for all of the questions, just trying to cover all my bases here. |

Lock and load.
1. piece of advise. Print out the law and carry it with you until you get your CHL. Unfortunately some LEO's don't know the law exists. If you are in Houston, and are stopped, you may have to give it up. Hasn't happened to anyone I know, but it is always a posibility. If you are stopped, don't reach for jack shit, until you inform the officer that you have it in the vehicle. Window down Vehicle off Hands on steering wheel If its night, turn on interior light. Protect the guys that protect and serve!!!!!!!! |

Awsome, thanks for all of your help guys Just wanted to make sure I wouldn't be a committing a no-no if I had it with me in the car and definitely would not be reaching for anything if I was pulled over, thankfully I haven't had a speeding ticket in over 2 years *knock on wood* Now, to rustle up the funds for my CHL and join the ranks of non victims |
