This is the official bulletin from the Texas Department of Public Safety announcing as of May 1st concealed handgun licensees renewing their CHL will no longer be required to include pictures or finger prints.
I copied this from an email I got from TSRA. I guess someone finally figured it out. Da Link Yo Does anyone else think this has something to do with this being an election year? |

I do not see it as an improvement, but more work, as now you have to go get in line for digital prints. Two steps instead of one. Agreed. It is easier to go to ONE class, get everything done, then send it off. Well hell, why can't they just scan the ones they have on file? |

| Actually, finger prints do change over time as your hands age certain features become less prominent. I have seen several older people that had to have their prints taken over and over because it was so hard to get legible prints off of them. Whether or not that is the reason I dunno. |

Bumping an old thread: I just completed the renewal portion online, and there is NO mention of fingerprints or pictures. The checklist that printed out said that the only thing I had to send in was the checklist itself and my CHL-100 training form certificate. Interesting. |

It even says on their webpage (http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administration/crime_records/chl/renew.htm): After receiving the renewal packet in the mail, renewing license holders must return the following items to the Department:
You complete the application and affidavits online, #4, 5, and 6 don't apply. The only thing extra I need to send in is a copy of my naturalization certificate or passport since I wasn't born here. |
