The IRS has a Criminal Investigation Division, members of which carry guns. Uncle Sugar likes to assess taxes on various criminal entities - gambling rings, prostitution houses, drug dealers, money launderers, etc. Some of those folks don't really want to pay taxes.

Then why not have the FBI take down folks at the IRS's direction? Even if the FBI had to add teams for this, it would probably still be cheaper than the IRS cranking up their own stuff.
Seems like everyone wants to have their own little hit squad. I saw a police car for Union Pacific Railroad the other day. |
