Need a lead on someone in the Houston area that will re-anodize an AR15 upper receiver on a one-off basis.  Have  contacted a couple of companies through the telephone book, but they only did new and/or quantity work.  Thanks for any info.

You can take it to any plating shop and ask to have it stripped and re anodized. The problem is that the strip will remove the plating and some material. Then when it is re-hard anodized it will not build up enough to compensate and the lugs will be loose and the threads will be loose. Also, most plating shops have a $50 minimum fee per process, so it would probably cost more than just buying a new receiver.

or if you would just like to sell it and buy a new one, send me a message

Lowers are really inexpensive, unless it had some sentimental value to you I would just live with it or get a new one.

This is a little more than "just a receiver".  It has been modified from A2 config. to A-XTarget, to be used in a space gun config. using iron sights with a 32" sight radius.  We working on it, a step at a time.

Thanks, Gunny.  Your input  is spot on.   Was hoping to find someone here in Houston to do that exact type of work.

US Anodizing has a pretty quick turn around time.  Their quality is also top notch.  If you can't find someone local...that's where I would send mine!

In the Class 3 world of collecting  8 weeks is like the speed of light!  I guess I've grown a little patient in my old age.  They did one for my in roughly 4 weeks, but that has been a while.

Not sure if they can help you but I had some of my car parts anodized by Surface Techniques in Houston. While I was there I noticed a few 1911 parts being anodized. They are reasonably priced and have very quick turn around (a few days).
