Has anyone ever actually seen one? Any gun shops stock them?
I have been trying to trade my 16" upper for a 18-20 " left handed one but damn... I can not even find one for sale let alone to trade. Wanting to put together a DMR style for my left handed wife
I was wondering though, how many of yall are left handed. Does shooting a right handed AR bother you? |

Who cares about us!
The gun needs to suit your wife it's her gun so it needs to be designed with her needs in mind. Short arms and small hands need short stocks, small grips and light weight. How well does she shoot the gun in it's current configuration? What does she not like about it? The biggest problem I hear is gas blowing out of the ejection port into the shooters face. But I don't have that issue when I shoot an ar left handed. |

This is goin to be a DMR style rifle that I am buildin for her.
So the weight of the rifle is not really a concern. She shoots my right handed AR just fine, was more curious to know if there was any distinct pro's or con's using a left handed upper. If there is not then I would prefer to keep everything interchangeable with all my AR's I appreciate y'all southpaw's input!!! |

I shoot rifles left handed and find left handed ARs completely unnecessary. Left handed manipulations are very simple and sometimes easier. This +1 Add an ambi selector and mag release and you are good to go for lefties! Do you have to make any modifications to your lower to install the ambi selector and mag release? |

The ambi mag release is real easy to do. The selector you might want to get some help if you have never built a lower before. You have to remove the handle and there is a spring that gives positive "pressure" or resistance to the selector. If you are not careful you will launch it into your carpet when go to install. Ask me how I know! Where are you located?...any number of members here can help you with the install. |

There is a difference when shooting lefty in a righty platform; You just can't do anything about it. I did it in the service and no mayor complaints but the lefty Stag upper that I got serves the purpose and I don't have that burnt powder issue when shooting dirty ammo. Great upper and it is a keeper.
Like I always say, get an extra bolt if used as a general defense platform. |

The only ammo this rifle is goin to see is quality ammo. Not a self defense platform in anyway shape or form I have experience with lower parts kits and such so installation won't be hard. What about the bolt release, would it be in the way of the ejection port of the dust cover? |

Right handed, left eye dominate, shoot pistols righty, rifles lefty. I have a right handed Bushy and a lefty Stag. Both have ambi selectors and Norgon ambi mag catches. The only difference I notice is the ejection of spent cases going across my vision on the bushy when shooting with both eyes open. If your a lefty why not get one made for you? |

| I shoot a lefty Stag with several of the left handed parts already mentioned. I also use one of these ambi charging handles I picked up from Larue. They had some issues with the first generation of these, but the second gen seems to work very well. I also like my MOE grip since I work the bolt release with my trigger finger. Not having the finger bump like on the A2 grip is more user friendly for me. |

My son shoots lefty. He has a lefty Stag. When He shoots my AR’s he wears a long sleeve shirt. He has gotten a couple burns on his arm when shooting from a bench Stag lefty's are usually found at all the large TX gun shows. Might be a good idea to let her check one out and decide. I'm not a lefty shooter but if I were I'd own one for sure. |

I appreciate all the input y'all. I have decided to just go with a right handed upper. The parts commonality with my other uppers, cheaper parts, more parts available and since the rifle will only see premium ammo and the fact that she wears glasses, she has not ever noticed any gas in the face. Now to find someone who wants to trade their 18" flat top for my 14.5" flat top |
