i just heard this and was going to make a thread to try and get some info. i'm in iraq but that's where my unit is stationed. so far we're hearing the same numbers but that it was soldiers at srp. they're fucking a lot of people over when we get back (me included). pushing our leave way back for schools etc. i wonder if this has something to do with it.

The sprawling complex is home to at least 4,929 active duty officers and 45,414 enlisted. Civilian employees total nearly 9,000. |

DEVELOPING: A mass shooting at Ft. Hood military base in Texas has left at least 7 dead and 12 wounded, officials told Fox News.
There were two shooters in the Army base massacre in Killeen, the New York Post reported. One suspect was in custody and the other was on the loose, Fox News confirmed. The attack apparently happened at the base's Soldier Readiness Center. Army officials didn't know whether the victims were civilians or military personnel. The men were reportedly dressed in Army fatigues, but military officials couldn't confirm that they were Army personnel. The base and area schools were on lockdown after the mass shooting, and all those on the Army base were asked to gather for a head count. |

30 wounded now. guy in custody is in his 40's. soldier readiness center and px is what we're hearing over here so far. the regs to bring guns on ft. hood are already ridiculous. i'm sure they'll be next to impossible now.
edit. shooting moved to on post housing. 1 dead. 1 captured and they've got 500 soldiers looking for the last guy. |

| dude that sucks, when you come back from your deployment you best get yourself an apartment off base. At least your stationed in gun country I was stationed in Germany . I had a set of swords that my dumb ass CO wanted to lock up in the arms room for God knows what |

Current count is 12 dead, 31 wounded.
One shooter dead, 2 suspects in custody. Hood is still on lockdown. Most of the area schools are also locked down. They let my daughter out of Junior high but my son's elementary is making parent's p/up all the kids. I'm hearing that the shooting was at the Soldier Readiness Center. Various reports are coming in from all over post housing of shots fired but no one knows how much creedence to give them. ABC news is reporting that the shooter was Sgt. Major Malik Hassan a recent Islam convert. More in a moment. |

Alot of things at this point are speculatory. Edit: update CTC classes cancelled for today. No word if area schools will run tommorow. | I pray for those RIP, those wounded, and their families. I am not sorry to say this but it is pretty simple no Islam = no terrrorist. If not every mosac in Texas/the united states doesn't come out deploring this incident then they should be shut/torn down at the least picketted. Can't believe they way we pussy foot around this. |

WTF....
Im a student at texas am central texas which is located across the road from Fort Hood and I want to offer my condolances to any family and friends of those killed and wounded. Luckily as far as I know none of my friends were at the Soldier Rediness Center at the time of the shooting and are all ok. I knew something was wrong when I left campus and had seen multiple ambulances racing down 190 west as I was traveling east bound. Luckily I did not have class on post at the soldier developement center otherwise I would be under lockdown until all clear is given. 13 dead 30 injured . Local news is saying scott and white is requesting that blood donors are not needed tonite but urge them to return tommorow.
