RE: G17 knock off mags bought from Palmeto State Armory.
At least they were delivered in a timely manor, and the price (at the time) was right. I learned a lesson,....you STILL get what you pay for. I bought 4 of these http://www.palmettostatearmory.com/271.php a week or so ago. The description is a lie...... "These quality replacement mags are constructed from steel and polymer just like the originals. " Cough....BS. So, while I was loading them, the followers canted horribly, and the springs felt.....well, just weird. After all 17 were loaded in, I fed the mag into my G17, and thumbed the mag release. {clunk} nothing happened. I slapped it, and thumbed it again. Again, nothing. WOW! The websites description came screaming back into my head "These magazines have an excellent reputation for quality and reliability. They are considered the finest aftermarket magazine on the market." I literally chuckled. I loaded another one, this time I gave a little flick of the wrist. The same thing I do while in a tourney on the move. Yeah, I know we're trained to sweep the mag, but I've developed a bad habit, and it works.......er egh....heh, with REAL mags it does.
So as I flicked the ole wrist, the mag slid out about an inch. WTF! All I could think was, oh I'm a dead man in a gun fight. Just my two cents. P.S.A. didn't make the junk mags, but they sure fluffed them up in the description. I'm sure they'll make it right. I'll keep you posted. |

I went a step further today. I inserted a loaded mag into a fobus mag holder I had lying around. Knowing that it has two pieces and a seam, this was perfect. My Factory mags dont part the seam, all of these DID, significantly. They did drop free when empty..........definately range mags. But I don't shoot paper from a standing position very often. Im usually on the move, and doing mag changes. Sucks, but I guess Im gonna just have to pony up and buy more 17 factory mags. CRAP
PS, P.S.A> sent me an EMAIL today, and told me to call on Monday. They are indeed a reputable Site. Good guys! |
