Well I am finally here in Cypress TX and it is all new and good but now I need a local supplier for reloading (I like to support locally) I have a ample supply of primers, powder etc... but when there is a good deal I like to take advantage of it
I am about 30 miles from DT Houston off of Barker Cypress Rd near 529 going back to Indiana or Wheeler TX for supplies is not cost effective

Academy does not normally had anything resembling reloading supplies.  But at one time they did carry a large inventory and assortment of the plastic MTM cartridge boxes.

trust me, you want to go to 10ring. Im a former employee and a strong supporter of their buiness.

They cater to locals and genuinly care about establishing long term customers through dedicated personal service.

Ive told this story on here before but the store started when the owner and his two buddies started reloading and shooting alot. They chipped in on reloading supplies so they could save on the cost of shooting and after not long Brian had filled up his guest room. Then all the stuff moved into the garage and after a while he just decided to make a busines out of it. He runs a small business out of a store on Cypress North Houston. Its probably 1,000 square feet with a ton of reloading stuff crammed in there. They were running low on primers and powder for a while like everybody else but about two weeks when i went in there they had pretty much everything in stock. There prices are usually in line with midway's prices and anything they dont have in stock they will order for you, or track it down and order it for you. If you have a question that you need answered they will help you or find someone who will help you.  It really is a cool place.

Now another question how about a pistol/rifle range near me ? would prefer to be able to go out a few hundred yards but will take what I can get

You could try:

Shiloh Indoor Shooting Range

Houston, TX 77066

http://www.chl-shooting-range.com/

They should be pretty close to you.

My ranking of shops around Houston from best to worst that I know of:
1) 10ring (The workers there are very friendly and helpful.  Only sells reloading components)
2) Carters Country (service isn't as good as 10ring.  Sells reloading components, firearms and firearm related stuff)
3) Gander Mountain (service is worse than Carters.  Sells general outdoors stuff, and prices cause much butthurt. )

Hotwells is close.  Not a fancy range but an inexpensive way to hit paper.  http://www.hotwellsshootingrange.com/

If you look at the history of Cypress TX you'll find the dance hall, hot wells (long gone hotel) and shooting range played a large part of what attracted people to the area in the mid 1800s though the mid 1900s

24815 Northwest Freeway,
Cypress, TX 77429

The funnest way to hit paper is http://www.whidpa.com/ and is about a 40 min drive west of us.  You live close let me know if you want a ride out.

Hotwells looks to be less than 10 miles out as well I would prefer a private club even if it involved driving 30-40 miles out

I have been to hotwells and they make you shoot off of a bench no prone shooting allowed this goes the same for American Shooting Center ? they also donot allow double taps which seems odd to me for defensive shooting
Is there a range that allows prone shooting and double tapping would prefer a rifle range out to 2-300 mtrs
Also went to 10ring and they did not have what I needed but said they were going to get some stuff in next week and would give me a call seem like really nice folks

I think anywhere within Metro Houston you'll be limited since you are looking for 2-300meter range. The only one I know is Bayou Rifle.

http://www.bayourifles.org/

The Julliff range goes out to 1000 yards, it is a ways to go on the south side of town. They are membership only range also.

I went out to American Shooting Ctr and they have a 600 yd range but you have to qualify on the 300 before they will let you use it, looks like I may have found a new home
