I've been living in DFW for 4 years now. In that time there have been three minor earthquakes, all of them in the last 6 months.

So, this question is for those of you that have lived here a lot longer than I have:

Are earthquakes typically this "common" here, or is this a new phenomenon?

I've lived here my entire life and I've never felt an earthquake or seen a tornado.

Fairly rare to get one big enough to notice.  Little ones occur due to oil & gas extraction.

I wondered if anybody was going to mention the quake in Arlington yesterday. I've been here all my life and no it's not often it happens where you can feel anything.

Yesterday was the first one i've ever felt that you could tell things were shaking. It only lasted a few seconds but made me go WTF.

It seems to be happening more frequently with all the gas drilling going on these days.

Earthquakes happen fairly often and there are faults everywhere,  just the quakes are usually not strong enough to be felt.
