I usually leave my Christmas lights up until the weekend after New years, but today is so damn nice I just pulled them down.
Anyone else not waiting? BTW the tree comes down today too. We want our living room back! Jim |

Yes. I took them down last year. Didn't even bother to put any up this year. Grinch! With a 7 year old and an 8 year old there is no way I can skip lights, etc. My lights are down and put away. the tree is down and back in the attic along with the reindeer. I even straightened up my garage some. Frickin Cowboys! Jim |

My lights have been up for over 2 years now. They are cable lights mounted on fascia boards against the bottoms of the gutters and closely surrounding our front windows and door, so not very noticeable from the street when they are turned off. These are hooked to dedicated outlets, so turning the lights off and on is very easy, just flip a couple of switches by the front door. More people notice all of the light switches than the lights when they are off... Around Thanksgiving this year, the next door neighbor was standing on my front porch asking if I planned on putting up lights. He's got cables hanging all over his house and front yard, but it looks nice lit up at night.

The people who really kill me are the people who leave their lights up all year. not the subtle lights like yours kar98k, but the ones with icicicle lights that tend to droop around May.
Next year I will be looking for some new lights we saw this year. They were LEDs and looked great. I think some were snowflake hanging lights but others were like the mini-lights I use around my roof. Jim |
gotta see what the doc says tuesday. Tree is coming down in the morning.
