| Any recommendations on someone who can thread a few barrels for me? I have WASRs in 7.62, .223, and 5.45. I also have a FAL in .308, and one AR in 5.56. With five rifles, would I be better off just buying the threading kit from Brownells? I am in the Katy area. Thanks! |
| theading needs to be done on a machine not a POS tap, jig, pilot. You may get "threads" but they won't be cut well enough to mount a can and maybe not even flash supressor. I am not sure about those guns but you may have to remove the barrel and then re-headspace. It's more money than you might want to spend. Some gun smiths won't thread ak because the barrels are not always centered in the bore. |

Thanks, I will check into it. did you ever find anyone to re-thread your AR? i am in the Katy area and may be looking to have the same thing done. I have a 24" bull barrel and 16" mid-length kit. i am looking at getting a 20" kit and having the barrel shortened to 18". this would be for two different ARs in 5.56 and 7.62. |
