I'm in Huntsville and have some extra funds built up I would like to put towards some class 3 toys. Anybody know how sign off is in this county? I'm new to the whole thing so any other tips or instructions would be helpful. Thanks guys!

I went through the same thing in Brenham and simply made an appointment with the Chief, explained what I wanted to do (well in advance of making a purchase) and he agreed to sign off.  If the Chief declines you can try the Sheriff.

You can always point out that you can go the Trust route and bypass them altogether, but because you are a responsible member of the community you would prefer to do it with their knowledge and blessing.  Also offer to let them try out your goodies when they arrive (assuming they agree to sign the forms).

Be sure that they understand that the ATF forms are Federal tax documents and cannot be made part of the public record.  In the past some jurisdictions have made it possible for anyone to find out who owns Title II weaopons, which could make you a target of criminals.
