I'm not an LEO, but two departments that I know are pretty much always looking are Dallas PD and the Garland PD. Garland being a large suburb of Dallas. I'm IMing you the site IDs for a couple of guys that might be able to talk to you about some other agencies as well. Let me also say this. Police officers in Texas are the most professional, down to Earth, respectful bunch of people I have met. I grew up in Michigan and lived there for 24 years. I had next to no respect for police officers when I came to Texas. The cops that I saw in Michigan were the type of people who felt that their badges were licenses to do whatever they wanted, including breaking the law and violating the rights of civilians, strutted around with an air of superiority as if their badges made them 6" taller than you, couldn't carry on any kind of conversation while in uniform (and often times while not) without being condescending, abusive and often times threatening. Since I have moved to Texas my opinion of Law Enforcement has done a complete 180. I have yet to meet a peace officer that didn't treat me the way that they expect to be treated, and carried themselves as professionals who were cognizant of the rights of civilian citizens. And when it comes to civilians and guns, you need to be someone who supports gun rights to fullest. We have a right to have that loaded AR-15 on the passenger seat and that loaded Glock in the console...all without a license. Suppressors are commonplace, so if you think silencers are for murders...think again. As the saying goes, we do things a little different down here. I don't know what kind of police officer you are and I don't want to assume the worst of you. If you're the kind of guy who does your job with professionalism and treats people like you expect them to treat you, and if you're the kind of guy who acknowledges and supports the fact that citizens have the right to arm themselves without registration and without government permission then you'll find yourself welcomed here. If you're the kind of guy who thinks that Badges are an acknowledgment of your superiority, that a condescending attitude and snide remarks are cornerstones of police work, that people's rights only need to be respected when there are witnesses around and that guns are for people in uniform only then stay home. |
