so I ordered the TX vs. FAU game on PPV today. When the game started there was nothing on the channel?? I called comcast and they stated technical difficulties . Seems like there's always something messed up with comcast these days ![]() How do you guys/gals like satellite (direct TV/dish net.) in the Houston area?? |
| I also have Comcast and they are definitely not Comcastic! They really blow worse than Time Warner, and who would have thought that possible? I had Direct TV prior and never lost signal even in heavy storms, their customer service was just horrible. I need a new service and we don't have any good choices. |

I just dumped Comcast for Dish Network a few weeks ago. Comcast seemed to have an awful lot of glitches and dropouts, plus the $70 a month for TV. With Dish, I got their HD only package, which has pretty much everything I want to watch in HD plus a nicer DVR for $35 a month. So far, I haven't had any problems in bad weather; I've had more signal loss with cable. And if you're really worried, a $20 antenna will pull in a dozen local OTA channels that probably have better reliability than either sat or cable. FWIW, I have heard that DirecTV is better for sports. |
I rarely ever get outages with Direct TV. I also tried Uverse. Didn't like their programming and their internet connection was too slow for me. I couldn't sustain a constant download speed. |

I've had Comcast for 14 years ... cable, internet, phone and home alarm monitoring. I could NOT deal with losing signal during storms, which I know happens with Dish and DirecTv. A few friends have Uverse and my internet speeds are 10x as fast, which is important to me as I work from home sometime. A few months ago my wife called for a problem with a certain channel, while the girl on the phone was checking the account info she said "You're paying too much, let me change this." She added all the premiums and cut our bill ny $55/mo. They just came out yesterday and re-laid the line in and switched out my splitters yesterday because the installation had been there since we built the house 11 years ago. I just cannot really bitch about Comcast, at least they have done right by me. www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ ![]() |
