Hey All,

I have a question for the AR-15.com philosophers.  I think I know the answer, looking for second opinions.

Situation:  A person has a REGISTERED Lightning Link.  It breaks PAST the point of fixing it, or, past the point of functioning.

Question:  Can a person have a person who is an SOT, replace it?  The new one will have all the markings as the original.  The SOT will destroy the broken one.

Is this legal?  Is this the procedure to legally replace the non-functioning one?

Does a person bite the bullet on a broken Lightning Link and have to buy a NEW one?

Thanks for the help!!!   REMEMBER-REGISTERED LIGHTNING LINK

Dave

I don't own one, but I think the answer is no.

For what those things cost, I'd see if it couldn't be welded back up and filed to spec.

Wow slow traffic today I guess.

The answer is NO.

You would be constructing a new LL which would be a newly manufactured MG.

If its metal then it can be fixed by someone somewhere. Best start looking around.

Don't have one-YET!!!!

Just wondered what a person would do if a $7,000 little piece of metal broke.

I also wondered what would happen if said piece of metal was broken past the point of functioning!!!

If the serial number can still be read, it can be repaired.
