I was taking pictures of my babys for insurance records and just had to post a pic of em.
L to R are...Remington .12g 820 express magnum, Remington .30 06, Romanian WASR 10, Yugo SKS I've since put it back on the original stock, Bushy AR-15, a VERY old 16g shotgun, Western Marshall .357 magnum, S&W M&P .40 compact, Springield XD .45 service model, Springfield XD .45 compact. I've had the SKS for 4 months and the WASR for 2 weeks and finally got out to the range to use them...they were sooooo much fun and neither had the kick I thought they would have. I loooove my babys!!

If you've thought about getting either the M&P or the XD but aren't sure...GET ONE...they are both great pistols...I've put about a thousand rounds through each and have not had one FTF or FTE...have had no problems with any of them what so ever.

What does your insurance actually cover? Did you have to get a supplemental rider, or do you have an independent insurance company solely for your firearms?

My renters insurance covers, theft, fire, water damage etc...I live in an apartment so I feel there is a greater chance of those things happening since I can't control what people do that live around me...I've been a Maintenance tech in the apartment industry for 20 yrs and have seen people do a LOT of stupid things One property I worked at had a building fire and there were 8 units where they lost everything...one of them was my housekeeper and she didn't have insurance...hers was only from water damage...I felt so sorry for her...she was in her early 60's and was devestated They said it was an electrical fire...but really there wasn't anything left to prove it.  About a year later in another unit a 5 year old boy was playing in his room and had the door shut...he set his matress on fire playing with a lighter...it scared him and he hid in the corner and thankfully we had sprinklers that keept it under control...the only way his parents new what happened is when the alarm went of when the sprinkler head activated...he was one lucky little boy...I was taking pictures of my belongings like the guns...new plasma TV, electronics... etc. to update my newer items. I know some people just can't afford insurance...but renters is so cheap it doesn't make sense...I pay something like $150.00 per year.

ETA...all guns are kept in a fire rated safe...but ya never know what can happen.

Hondaciv...I love the M&P...I bought the XD compact at the gun show at market hall this last weekend...I almost bought another M&P full size just because of the deal they are having...had a hard time making up my mind but the XD won out...they are both fine guns IMHO.

Typically renter's and homeowner's policies have a cap on the value of firearms which are covered, regardless of how the loss occurs.  You really should take a closer look at your policy, or speak with your agent.

If you desire to increase the cap above what the base policy includes, then you must pay an additional premium for the "rider".  On a previous renter's policy that I had, the rider premium was more than the base policy itself.

Congrats! You have a beautiful family.

+1 on checking your policy, my homeowners covers only a measly amount for firearms.

I will check into that...I sure don't to just assume they will be fully covered and then get screwed if something were to happen.

As far as the "commies" go...they may be cheap...but they do there job quit well. I'm happy with them...so that's really all that matters.
