what is an "Australian peal".  never heard that term before.

how well did you do on unsighted shooting and unsighted shooting on the move?
i find it very hard to hit anything while moving.

One person retreats a few yards, the other lays down covering fire. Then the another retreats. This goes on as a relay until everyone gets out of hot zone.

The class was a great experience.  I really enjoyed my time in the class.  A variety of topics were discussed and there was a lot of good information.  The maintenance part of the rifles was discussed at the start of the second day and I found this very helpful.  Matt and the others at MAST will do everything it takes to make everyone a better, safer and more responsible gun owner.  Safety is a top priority at MAST and I personally appreciate everything they do.

WOW!!!! Day 1 was outstanding The day started out with great drills with the rifles to set a firm foundation to build upon. After that, drills got more complex and dynamic. The day finished up with low light-no light house clearing designed to get to your family and get them out safe.It was a great day indeed. Just when I thought it couldn't get much better, Day 2 started. With unsighted snap shooting and unsighted shooting on the move to shooting from retention and retention drills The day finished with shoot and move dynamic drills and the australian peal for egressing a hostel narrow enviornment. Thanks to the great people at MAST for outstanding training that could someday save myself and family.

BTW Mainline came out with a back problem.  He successfully completed every drill with zeal, accuracy, and a dedicated and sound mindset.  Great job!  Great job to all...

See ya,

I came out for Saturday and all I can say is WOW. This has to be the best bang for the buck in tactical training. On top of improving the the skills I already had I learned allot, especially about low/no light threat engagement and dynamic movement. I really wish I could have made it out for the second day. Matt runs a top notch program, for any of you guys looking for local tactical/CQB training Mast is the way to go.

A typical "Break Contact" drill.  It can be called many things and done different ways but it serves it's purpose.  IE get your guys out of the fight, or to a better defended position safely while under fire.

Although I was only able to make day one, it proved to be one of the most thought provoking and enlightning experiences of my life.  Until you run your gear hard (700+ rounds in day 1)through life like training, you don't realize your set up's weaknesses and the limitations of your own pre-conceived ideas.  Transition drills from carbine to pistol were awesome.  Entering the CQB maze in the dark got my blood pumping before the first corner slicing!  Matt, David and Mike run a first rate and safety minded operation.  GET TRAINED or sell your weapons and be a sheep.

p.s.  One member of the class shipped back to Irag this week.  While we training for the very unlikley event that we need to use force to protect our selves or our family,  remember there are those who put it on the line every day for your right to live free.  May he permanently rehabilitate some terrorists and come back safely

Hey all,

Just wanted to let everyone know that I am back in Baghdad getting ready to get back to work. Matt was nice enough to allow me to transition from instructor to student for this class, since I wanted all the range time I could get before heading back.

Thanks again to Magpul and Crye for the support in providing their products. I will be reporting back via the Mast Solutions web page. Look for my Baghdad Blog to start in a few days.

I had a great time in the class.  Matthew, Mike and David are great instructors.
Learning the CQB tactics was great.
My favorite part was learning the low light/no light tactics.  Running the course in the dark was very cool!  I had never done anything like that before.  It really gets your heart beating.
Learning and performing transitions drills with carbine/handgun was great also.
I am looking forward to more training with MAST.
I recommend to everyone to get training from MAST.  Safety is always the number one concern.  They teach in a way that keeps you thinking and pushes you to improve, all the while having a great time.
I always enjoy training with the other students.  They are always a great group of guys and always help each other out.
Iraqninja it was great training with you.  Have a good tour and see you when you get home!
