Be sure to read the comments on the article.  No wonder I get dirty looks from people when I wear my media pass.

Typical Dallas Observer slant.  Great comments by the Dallas PD admitting that they don't keep up with the changing laws!

Yup; Observer slant.

They should just stick with the personals and be done with it.

"It's insane," says one Dallas officer, who asked not to be named. "They basically destroyed the concealed gun law. We're letting drug dealers with Glocks under the seat go and say have a nice day. In the past we could have charged them at least with a weapons violation and confiscated the gun.

It would still be illegal for a drug dealer to have one if he is in the commission of a crime. PLUS, if they are felons, they are in violation still.
One of my customers whom is a police officer told me that he likes the new law. He said if he ever ran into trouble during a traffic stop, an honest citizen that is armed may be more likely to stop and help.

So, if I understand these"distraught" officers and the district attorney right, if I got caught for whatever reason at Wal-Mart carrying all I have to do is claim "I forgot my money and was walking back home to get it?"

I do live only a half mile from my local Wal-Mart and if I did forget my wallet it would be better for my health and the environment to walk home and leave the truck parked.
