Did you ever get your mossberg torn down to see what the problem was? I found a pic of both models I was talking about. If you already have it I honestly dont know why it would lock the last round without taking a closer look at it by breaking it down. Old style New style If you dont have the new one get and you and will probably be GTG. |

I'm slow... (and guessing that this revelation suprises no one... )I have diagnosed the problem with the mossberg - and it was unexpected.... Hornady TAP FPD ammo... The next day I ran a several dozen of different types of shells through it without a hiccup, and dry-cycled a few dozen more without firing. Hi brass, low brass, cheap, expensive, all kinds of loads and brands. After all that, the FPD ammos still hangs on the cartridge interrupter on the last or next to last shell. I never micro'd it, but I'm guessing that maybe the rim is a hair thicker causing it to lodge under the lip of the interrupter when the spring is no longer under enough tension to shove it past fast enough. The 590 has brand new wolff xtra springs in it, so I think my solution is to avoid the TAP ammo - it's overpriced anyway.... Thanks for the info and pics - I may still replace the interrupter anyway and give it a shot. But I can't replicate the problem with other shells and I'd have to but more TAP ammo to verify the fix... Reference the hat and med kit. As stated above - "I am slow". I do need to get the "med" bag back from you before you get pulled over or raided. Oops, I've said too much... |
