TIGER VALLEY Women’s Pistol Class 8 hour Saturday October 8, 2007 Welcome to Tiger Valley Safety Brief Rules 1. All guns are away loaded 2. Finger is off the trigger until sights are on the target 3. Don’t point your weapon at anything you don’t plan on destroying 4. Be aware of not only your target but also what is behind it. Factors that control what type of weapon we buy Reality of a gunfight Stopping power The human animal Mind set Skill set GRIP STANCE DRAWING THE WEAPON DRAWING FROM CONCEALMENT SECOND SIGHT PICTURE WEAPONS RETENTION Range time Range time that will deal with real world distances, which are 5-7 yards. We will shoot from low ready, high cover and concealment as well as shoot through clothing and purses. This class is designed to provide women the tools needed to survive a lethal confrontation. We hope to dispel some old school thinking in how you should defend yourself with real world times and numbers. All shooting will be done at distances that statistics tell us they are really happening. We will use movement, concealment and cover in the class as well as drills that will enhance close quarter shooting ability. The premise of this class is keeping it simple. We will finish the class with some basic room clearing skill and weapons retention drills. |
