Anyone interested in getting a small group together to do some hiking/camping (primitive is preferred) Texas (starting point DFW) and surrounding states on occasion please IM me. Going stir crazy and want to get some miles in this summer - have Texas state park pass so any of those would be great (and free). Day pack hiking would be preferred while it's hot - I'm fine with saving the large pack for fall. Good exercise to train for survival matches. |
to be perfectly honest i would love to get some hiking in. dude this would rock im free almost everysingle weekend and relly need to start hiking again. |
Check your fire, starducks. She's no dude |
| Wish I could join you guys but I live far south in the Mcallen area. I go on solo hikes so I think it would be cool with other people. I'm so wasted after yesterdays hike carrying my pack with 200ish shotgun shells, MRE, Water, insect repellent, binoculars and other stuff. I had my new FN SLP Mark I shotgun with me it's soo amazing to shoot so I blasted alot of crows and stuff I even saw a coyote but he was out of range of my bird shot and I didn't have time to load 00 Buck. |

These people are all talk. I posted last week for someone...anyone to go on a real hike with me in New Mexico. ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=8&f=8&t=271119 I went and carried 50 lbs of gear in the desert to a spot just to take pictures. Here is my thread in the photo forum about it. ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=121&t=583652 Where the hell were you? |
Haha well its heavy at first but when you got a semi auto that holds 9 rounds the pack gets light before you know it. |
I would have loved to go. |
Why didn't you speak up? |
Scroll down and read part II in this thread. ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=121&t=583652 |
ah woops ![]() but i'd still love to start hiking again |
Those are stunning (as usual) legs! I will make sure to keep an eye out from now on. I skim the forum but must have missed your thread. You really just wanted someone to help carry your gear though right? |
No, wanted help driving. |
|
Due to family constraints ("Family, schmamily!" I hear some of you say), I must stay close to home. Anything on the South Plains, Llano Estacado, and possibly Panhandle area, I might be game for. I know a couple years ago, several of y'all camped/hiked at Palo Duro Canyon (IIRC). Was unable to make that due to pregnant wife. |
50lbs of gear?!?! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!<GASPING FOR AIR>BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA<NO WAIT SERIOUSLY>BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA! In 2004 you told Mojo, GAGAFAGRAK, and myself to 'work out, hit the gym, start prepping for these hikes in Utah....' then YOU are the one that almost CRIED when the Park Ranger would not give you a lift back to camp. Wiping tears laughing at you, dumbass. TRG |
Friken Cool Legs! |
A word to the wise. the rains in Texas, nad the lack of fire-ants has allowed the tick population to EXPLODE in East Texas. Even a brief hike around my 20 acres is a guaranteed way to pick off 3-5 ticks per person. Even with Deet applied liberally to clothing and bare skin. Buddy of mine took his kids hiking on my place about 2 weeks ago. HE had 20 ticks on him and was picking ticks of the kids for the next 24 hours. Just something to think about. TRG |
No one pay any attention to the lying queen in the closet... This same bitch backed out on my last years trip...to tough for him, just 10 days before we were to leave. And also cried that he was tired of driving and didn't want to go this time since he gave road head to 1NUTGUMMER all the way to Washington. |
FAGARAK and Mojo will be along shortly to back up my story. But for the audience, imagine this: We are all four in Utah in March '04. Ilikelittleboys has been 'warning' us all about how difficult the hikes will be. We are on about Day 5 of hiking. Mojo, FAG, and myself have all been underwhelmed by the hiking. But, our intrepid ILL has advised us all that today will be a 'real bitch'. Miles and miles of mountain hiking. We make the hike to some dumb-as-hell-rock that ILL just *has* to photograph. With literally HOURS to wait until the 'sun gets right' the three of us leave ILL on the hillside and strike out to hike an additional 8 miles or so... All while ILL sits on his ass, eating granola and communing with rocks through his ass sitting on them. Finally, we return to an agreed upon place to meet ILL. He is no where to be found, and snow/rain is starting to fall. FAGARAK literally jogs several miles backtracking to find ILL, and we all meet up again. We still have about 6-7 miles to hike back to camp...including the steepest part of our climb. ILL is wheezing before we even get a third of the way back. Keep in mind, Mojo, FAG and I have hiked...miles and miles while he munched granola and slept. Snow is falling, spirits are high, and ILL is scared about the 'weather'... No, not the 'weather' ... I mean 'whether' As in 'whether or not he has the strength left to hike back to camp' Keep in mind, even in his own head he mispells shit. So, we hit the return trail and spot a vehicle coming... what could it be? A Game Warden/Park Ranger. ILL has found another place to rest his ass, and Mojo, FAG and I talk to the Ranger. We explain how our buddy is tired, and could he get a ride back with the Ranger. "No," explained the Ranger "I have no room to carry him in my truck." So... I got tell ILL "good news buddy, they can give you a ride!" I don't know why I do these things, it just amuses me. "Really?" he asked "Sure," I said, "just go hop in the backseat." ILL hops up, like someone was waving man ass in the distance, and quickly approaches the Ranger's vehicle. (author's note: He had the eyes of a child, sparkling, happy as if approaching the tree on Christmas morning.) He quickly made his way to the Ranger and said, "You want me to just hop in back?" "No," replied the Ranger, "I already told your buddy I could not give you a ride." Honestly, I thought ILL was going to burst in to tears. I am going to smoke a turd in hell for that one of these days. ![]() TRG |
That was a pretty funny fictional story. But the truth of it is, I was the one who hiked an additional 4 more miles to the back side of Chesler Park behind joint trail, while you pussies stayed around Devils Kitchen and waited on me until 6pm-ish. Here is a map so eveyone can look it up and know you are the real cry baby. PDF map of the Canyonlands And here is my shot I took... ![]() I should also mention that I tore my achilies heel on Tuesday...what did I do? I duck taped it and hiked 13 miles Wed. and 15 miles Thursday...the day in question TRG is exagerating about. All that boy did was drink Vodka the whole trip. But it is true about fagarak jogging around the canyons and kicking all our ass's and putting us to shame. I couldn't believe it. |
WTF is an achilies heel? You mean your Achille's Tendon? ![]() No...wait... BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! ![]() TRG PS. I think I just tore my achilies toe laughing at you. |

I'm up for some hiking. Never actually done any hiking stateside but there's always a first for everything. Well, as long as this doesn't turn into some crazy @ss Deliverance type of ordeal cuz this little piggy doesn't like or want to squeal. http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=2090995637 ***Damn, I suck at this interweb thing, picture ain't coming up.*** ******Hmmm, looks like you can right click on the icon where the pic is suppose to be and view the pic that way.****** |
Rocks were too tough on you. Noticed you didn't address why you pussed out on the last two trips. The big trip you pussed out on going on was the Yosemite trip. (just 10 days before we were supposed to leave...bitch) My wife went instead and she sucked it up and camped in a foot of snow for three nights and made ALL the hikes with me as well as hiking in Death Valley. Since then, I have also gone to the Great Sand Dunes, Rocky Mountain National Park for a week (hiking 10 to 12 miles each day). Again, this March I went back to Utah for a week, alone...where were you? Smoking pole? And now I have gone on two 16 hour drives both weekends back to back to The Bisti Badlands. What do you do? Make some bullshit excuse post about getting ticks on your ass in your back yard. When I called your house, you were not there. But your boyfriend said you mentioned the trip and said you told him to tell me he would be upset since he had that weekend off and wanted to spend time with you. Truth be told, your jaw was just too sore from smoking 1nutgummer two weeks before. Not quite rested up. Your weak. |
The trip has scarred TRG for life. He couldn't forget something so traumatic like that. |
I know for a fact that ILL man-sniffled when he could not ride back with the Ranger. TRG |
|
I love you guys. You make the Texas Hometown worth visiting. Here's a movie just for you: Legs Angry. |
|
Too fucking funny, too close to reality. ![]() [lol2] TRG |
Dayaaammm.
|
Sorry, SZ. TRG started it. Back on topic....Can't do rock climbing....Have problem with my Achilles. |
| I'm good for day hikes on some weekends and an occasional overnighter. I usually hike North Shore (Grapevine) once or twice a month, but all the rain has put that on hold for the past two months. I have two young kiddos that I dedicate most of my time to, but I'd be interested in getting out from time to time. |

Keep in mind, even in his own head he mispells shit.
