Went and saw it with wife last night.

Pretty good flick.

A lot of hokey stuff and some over the top stuff but over all - entertaining.

When I left I did not feel as if I had wasted my $$
(Since I am a MARKY MARK Fan)

Most of you guys will like it .

Saw it today and I kind of liked it and will by the DVD.  However, the whipcream cans as an anesthetic was quite interesting...............

I'm reading the book right now. I'm worried they changed to much stuff. I do want to see the movie.

Wait for the DVD. Over the top hollyweird BS special effects. If you have read the book you most likely will even be more pissed since they missed many plot points to keep it simple for the "masses".

I saw this weekend as well.  Not a very large crowd.  I would give it 2.5-3.0 out of five stars.  The action was pretty good but I didn't care for the liberal polictics, as usual (the politics of evil oil;  by the way I've worked for 3 of those evil oil companies so you can't rely on me to be fair, right).

The movie followed the book fairly closely. I LOVED the book. Some small changes for the big screen but I still enjoyed it.

I will probably buy a copy when available. It will go well with RedDawn.

You must have read a different copy of the book than I did. Mayor plot points were left out as well as reasonable explanations given in the book on how/why stuff was done.

The whole movie was anti-corporation /"big oil". It also had way too much conspiracy nut BS in it which was never in the book.

Another good book made into a movie and ruined by leftest bullshit.

To put EVERY plot item in the movie would have made it at least double the length. Just the part of setting up the bullet recovery and the fired brass would have added about a half hour alone. Did it contribute greatly to the movie? No, its a minor sub plot that most of the public would not have appreciated.

The historical time frame was changed- no loss of movie credibility, went from post 'nam hero to the current sandbox time frame.

Dropped the JFK tie-in, again no loss of the movie, it was a minor sub-plot. I liked the JFK but it wasn't needed for this movie.

I could go on but the movie carried the book pretty well. I guess you are a pure to book kind of guy.
Now go back to your M16A1 and sell ALL your optics!!!  They're not origional!!

I saw it and really liked it, good movie. I'll buy it when it comes out on DVD.

I've got the book and am reading it (really good!) but waited until after the movie to start reading it so that I wouldn't be pissed off :)

There were a few stabs at the current administration ("where else could you have a sec of defense tell you the war wasn't about oil and people actually believe him?", or "that's as big as lie as WMDs in Iraq!" kind of comments).

These comments were not a huge deal although they pissed me off.

My dad thought the movie was decent but was really pissed off that they changed so much from the book, specifically that they changed it from a Vietnam vet that was treated good by the military but horribly by the public, to an Iraq war vet that was betrayed by the military and government.

Saw it Friday night and I liked it.  I especially love it when my wife watches those kinds of movies and giggles in happiness when she sees a head explode from a rifle shell at 1000 yards.  She appreciates that kind of shooting and that is one of the many reasons she is so cool.

I will buy the DVD when it comes out.

Need to read the book now......

Probably the only way they could get Marky Mark to do the flick.
