Yep, this is what I got:

Thank you for contacting my office regarding legislation that would bring back the semi-auto weapons ban.  It was a pleasure to hear from you.

Since coming to Congress in 1997, I worked to repeal this ban, reintroducing my Second Amendment Protection Act each Congress, that would have repealed the semi-auto ban, done away with the Brady Law ("instant" registration check), and amended the Gun Control Act of 1968 by deleting the "sporting purposes" test, which allows the Secretary of Treasury to regulate away "non sporting" firearms.  While my legislation did not pass the House of Representatives, strong efforts in Congress and by gun rights supporters led to the federal government allowing the semi-auto ban to sunset, terminating its existence in federal law.  I am hopeful that similar determination and activism for gun rights will prevent the reinstatement of the semi-auto ban.  This Congress, I have reintroduced a new Second Amendment Protection Act, HR 1096, with the provisions that would eliminate the "sporting purposes" test and the Brady Law, along with a new provision that would repeal the Child Safety Lock Act of 2005 that effectively imposed a tax on each handgun sale because gun buyers are forced to pay the cost of mandated "secure gun storage or safety devices" and threatens gun dealers with large fines and license revocation.

The Second Amendment guarantees that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed by Congress.  The 1994 Crime Bill infringed upon law-abiding citizens by banning certain firearms.  Gun control advocates have defined firearms that only externally resemble military firearms as "assault weapons."  True assault weapons are designed to produce only roughly aimed bursts of full automatic fire--something semiautomatic firearms do not do.

Please be assured I will fight any movement, including bills such as HR 1022, the Assault Weapons Ban and Law Enforcement Protection Act, that would reimpose this unconstitutional ban; our gun rights need to be restored, not restricted. In fact, I, along with 14 other Members of Congress, sent a letter to the president requesting that the administration oppose reauthorization of the Clinton-Feinstein-Schumer ban on certain semi-automatic weapons.  This was written in response to the statement given by the president's spokesman, Scott McClellan, saying that the president supports the reauthorization of the 1994 ban.  As you know, the semi-auto ban was useless in preventing violent crime. Contrary to the propaganda of gun control supporters, only a very small percentage of crimes are committed with so-called assault weapons.  The last thing we need is more gun control.

Again, thank you for contacting this office with your grave concern.  I'm glad to know of your support.

Sincerely,

Ron Paul

I sent snail mail to Nick Lampson about the issue a week or so ago. Strangely, I have yet to hear anything back from him. I'm kind of doubting I will.
