I don't post much on this board, but I hope that doesn't stop you from making a donation.  I saw this on CNN last week and feel it is worth posting. I believe our troops fighting for YOU AND ME overseas should have the equipment they need to keep them safe. I urge you to do your part, and help keep our fighting men and women safe!

MODS: If possible please tack this thread.

About Operation Helmet:

"OPERATION HELMET provides helmet upgrade kits free of charge to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as to those deploying in the near future
The combat helmet (PASGT or 'kevlar') is being replaced with a new, more ballistic-proof (bullet-resistant) LWH (Light Weight Helmet). Both helmets rest on a ‘spider web’ strap suspension. Air is the only medium providing 'standoff' between the head and the helmet other than the straps and leather headband.
The "360-degree" war our troops face now deals with an enemy that uses high explosives from all quarters to inflict casualties from the blast wave, fragments carried on it, and by slamming the warrior’s head into walls, vehicles, etc. The strap-suspended helmet rocks violently against the skull in an area about the size of a ball-peen hammer tip. The impact can cause skull fractures, intracranial bleeding, and/or concussions resulting in disabling injuries or death.
The solution is to replace the unstable straps with a shock-absorbing pad suspension with a stronger chin and nape strap. The helmet rests on g-force/impact resistant highly engineered pads to provide 'standoff', comfort, and stability. This upgrade cushions the trooper's head from blast/fragment impact, spreads contact over a wider area and can save lives and prevent disability.
A highly protective upgrade kit provides an added degree of protection from such blast forces. And the upgrade kits are available RIGHT NOW!

Regardless of how one feels about the war, we all want the troops home alive and well. Politics has no place in supporting the troops!"

I know the members here at AR15.com have come together for a worthy cause in the past.  I hope you can do it again.  You can download a donation form from their website and donations are TAX DEDUCTIBLE.
