Not sure if it is just me but wondering if anyone else feels like the Austin show keeps getitng more jewlery and other random tables that aren't gun stuff. Also noticed at the last show there was an empty spot in the corner that normally would have had a couple of tables there. And I forget the vendors name but the guys who used to be in the middle with all of the ARs and spreadfire haven't been to the show in months so there isn't as much cool stuff to look at :< Seems like anymore these days you can't go to gunshows for deals you got to head over to EE and dig through the message boards to find a real deal. |

I was there at 9am Saturday whn they opeened so some peeople hadn't completeely set up yet. This made it hard to tell if some tables were missing. Also, I was there specifically for a new Glock so my eyes were trained on only certain tables. But I agree that there are no deals at gunshows.....especially in regards to AR related items. My Glock was far from a great deal but it was the equivalent to buying one at a local store "tax-free" as far as the price goes. Also the guy I bought it from was nicer than people in the stores in town.

It's interesting how some shows have lots of guns and accessories and how others pull in the "other" vendors. Each Gun Show has a set of rules. Some don't allow food at all, others some. I only begrudge the high margins the jerky people get..... I think the High Caliber shows are my favorite. They do a good job, though trying to get a 2nd table at the Pasadena HC show is a chore. Saxet in Conroe was my first. I was so caught up in other crap I failed to notice what was going on. I'll still do every show in Houston/Pasadena/Conroe. Can't skip them because in Two days you get 100's of people perusing your inventory. |

I'm with that wandered around sunday afternoon. by 2ish, people were packing up. went looking specifically for SA 308, but the guy on the far side who normally has some, didnt. so basically the trip was blown for me, as I dont look at blown glass, cheap watches, and shit like that. was so bad, when I got back home, my wife was like "that was quick...." did pick up a bipod adapter I needed from gds, so not completely wasted time. I dont get the airsoft. cant you buy that at toys r us? or the swords. only people I ever see looking at swords are 9 and dont have enough allowance saved up to buy jerky, much less a sword. I did giggle about the sword vendor explaining that the one sample he was holding had six different weapons on it.... and the 13 year old giving a loud disertation on the merits of specific airsoft bullet traps why would you trap airsoft bullets? cant you just go around with a dustbuster and pick them back up? |
