If any of you in the Beaumont area are looking to join a gun club, I recently joined the Southeast Texas Sportmans Club. It's out in Orange county on Hwy 105 just before FM1135. Very black rifle friendly, doesn't mind double tapping or rapid firing as long as you aren't bothering anybody. Which there was tons of .223 and 5.56 brass on the ground so that was a good sign to me. It's still a little tore up from the hurricane but it is still very nice and they are in process of fixing/upgrading. Covered rifle range out to about 75 yds and smaller covered out to 200 yd they are working on a 300 yd and I believe a 400 yd.

Nice covered pistol range out to 25 yds and a skeet field, they said the machine was blown off and broken but they are working on getting another. The guy that owns/runs it owns JJ's pawn shop on College @ Lindbergh here in Beaumont and they are very nice guys. It's $40 plus a one time set up fee of $35 for a year. Have to be an NRA member. Right now it's only $52 total because they go March - March on the memberships so they aren't charging full price. I went by there this morning and he told me another nice tidbit, since I am range member, I can get him to order me a gun at cost plus 12% and shipping if it's over $300 and cost plus 17% and shipping if it's under $300.

On the membership it includes family and unlimited # of guests. Not advertising just passing along the information on a nice place to shoot that is ran by a very nice group of guys. Went out there this morning for the first time and was the only one there, I killed the poor little swinging target with my M4gery over and over again I finally got fed up with shooting at a local pay range and most of you in the Beaumont area known where I am talking about.

Yeah there is gaps to lay prone and I kneeled and used the table as a rest while killing the swinger.  Noone was there today at all, which I suspect is the case a lot, and you could lay prone in the grass in front of the slab. Of course if people are there I would say its not a good idea. There are no posted rules, nor did they give me any kind of rule sheet or tell me of any.

Seems so far as keep to the 4 basic rules, common sense and don't bother anyone and you're o.k. I'll gladly take you out there on one of my days off if you want to check it out and shoot there. I am going to make up some more target stands there aren't many out there. I feel your pain, Ar's are fun to slow shoot, but they were intended to be battle rifles and have the shit shot out of them, Legers did not give that.

I took some pictures for a friend of mine, I'll post them here in a second.

Theres still debris in places. But overall I like it. Better than Leger's any day of the week.

This is the guesstimated 75 or so yd range I was shooting at, as you can see aren't many target hangers. I am going to make some up to bring out there. To the left of this is the 100 yd and 200 yd range.

Pistol range. Goes out to 25 yds. I think I heard them say yesterday they were building another that was a little larger.

Not much but it's better than paying 4.75 per gun and have fun cut down by rules that were started because of idiots anyway.

I work 1700-0330 unless I have overtime and might not get off until 0400-0700 and Sun/Mon/Tues off. From Houston not sure, it's about 20 mins from Beaumont. They're over in Orange county between Vidor and Orange.

Hoping someone else in the club has an interest in three gun. They have a lot of extra room. I don't know the least thing about getting 3 gun set up, but it sure looks like a ton of fun. I am planning on going back out there with a friend of mine who is wanting to join on my days off. I can let you and if your available head on over.
