Anyone here from Lubbock?

I'm considering a taking a job there and relocating from AZ.

How is it for shooters?  Ranges, gun shows, gun shops etc..?

Ahh...DFW, home of (soon to be) two Bass Pro Shops and a Cabelas.  My job's HQ is there so I will most likely end up living there at some point.

PurpleCheese...you playn'  BF2?

I'm in Lubbock, been here 20 years and love it. Nice mid-size town, has everything you need and not  the hassles of a big city. You can get anywhere in town in 15 minutes or less. We are the home of Texas Tech University, who I work for. We have plenty of gun shops; one, Tx Tactical Arms, is AR-15 friendly. Great guy owns that shop. Have about 3 large gun shows a year. Indoor and outdoor ranges are here, too.
Come on over, you're welcome! BTW, I moved here from CA and glad I did!

The only thing I didn't like about Lubbock is how bitterly cold it got.

That wind coming from the North would've like to rip my fingers off.

Yeah, PC, it do get cold in winter! Snows a little, too. But not that bad, I even ride my Harley in winter when it's cold and dry, that's why they make leathers and gloves!

I've lived here my entire life, but Lubbock has its advantages.  Tx Tactical Arms is definitely one of them, tom (shop owner) will help you out anytime.  Kinda wish we had another range or two, but I guess we can deal with them.

As far as ranges go -

Rustic - ourdoor rifle/pistol/shotgun range west of town about 10 minutes, pretty cheap to shoot there.
Patriot - A guy name rick runs this range, its an indoor pistol range, its cheap enough (student's get a discount).

There are random pits outside of town that people own, if you can get buddy buddy with one then you can usually use those places (my buddy sold his )

Weather isnt' that bad, I ride my motorcycle pretty much year around, occasionally have wet and stuff, but its 50-60F during the daytime during the winter months (most of the time)

Rustic Range is just a little ways out of town but well worth the trip!
