| I've noticed that Academy is starting to carry some real cool stuff lately. Bushy M4 A2s for $799, Butler Creek 25 10/22 mags for $19.99, and spare hi-cap mags for pistols. The brand of pistol mags for Beretta 92fs that I've seen in the store are I believe Megar (sp). Has anyone seen Beretta factory 92FS mags at an Academy? I'm really hoping that they start selling Beretta and Glock factory mags there. Myabe they'll have them at decent prices. Thanks for any info. Also, does anyone here work for Academy? |
Academy is teh ghey.... ![]() You should only shop at gun shops owned and operated by ARFCOMMERS
|
I was just joking. Academy and Wally World get deep volume discounts which most of us gun shop owners cannot beat. Well, we could but we would often lose money on the deal. I haven't seen Bushies here yet at the nearby Academy, so I don't know what they are selling. Right now, a bushie is tough to come by in a no ban configuration. |

I give Academy credit for having the cahones to sell the evil "black guns." I somehow don't think Wal-Mart will be that brave. The only thing about the Bushmasters I saw at Academy was that they were all Post-Ban configuration. They must have gotten quite a deal on them. Even as "Post-Ban" guns, I can still thread the barrel and make them the way God intended them to be... Keith Norman NFA Investments, A BATFE Licensed Firearms Manufacturer Keith Norman, owner Tel. I think the spelling is Mec-Gar. And good for Academy. Now if they would just put their ammo on sale! |
Damn, guess I'll have to start a bad rumor about them, I mean after all, Sam Walton was a satanist, I read it on the Internet, so it must be true... However, try to ask the Academy guy some technical questions.... |
I haven't seen any around here at Academy. Every other gun they sell, except the bottom of the line ones, is priced at MSRP or higher so I don't buy from them. They were $130.00 higher on a G17 that I just purchased so I wouldn't be worrying about having anyone "Match their prices!" ![]() BigDozer66 |
Yea, or ask him about buying some 20 or 30 round mags, or any other accessories... My good friend David owns The Gun Store, LLC, in Cedar Park (near Austin, TX). I told him when Academy started selling Bushmasters - boy was he pissed. He brought up a good point, though: They ONLY sell the guns - no real accessories or magazines. David sells guns, ammo, accessories, and KNOWLEDGE; after people buy their Bushmaster at Academy, they come to him for new stocks, sights, mags, etc. So far, it seems to be working out well. Besides, I believe there is more money to be made in the used gun and new accessory market. |
dont worry coz when you get up and running im shop with you
i remember him! he use to be on veterans memorial. i bought my first gun from him |
| Hell the one in College Station has one AR but the only 223 ammo is steel cased russian and some high dollar hunting stuff. Every time I stop in for some W-W white box guess what they don't have any. I have never seen any in there but they have a space for it but it's always empty. |
David IS a good guy. Got my AK from him (before I got my FFL). Him leaving my area and moving to Cedar Park was one of my keys to starting my own shop. |
| Academy is selling no ban Bushys. My brother bought a M4 with all the goodies, FS, bayonet lug, and retractable stock from the Academy in Lufkin about two weeks ago for $799 ($863 out the door). I have seen no ban and post ban Bushys at the Academy in Humble. In defense of Academy I will say I've never been treated poorly at one of their stores. I DAMN sure can't say that about local gun shops. With a few exceptions, must folks running gun shops are know-it-all dickheads. This ain't just my opinion either if you surf these boards and see how most shops treat the general public. I can name a few; Sportsman Outlet, Carter's Country, Ammo Dump, and to a lesser extent Pruett's shop. As for info on accessories, I don't need the Academy employee's help because I'm allready up on that kinda stuff. I know there are some dealers out there that do not fit the mold I just explained so I hope ya'll won't take offense. The others are their own worst enemy. I really don't see how they stay in business. |
Enjoy shopping at Academy....... |
Hey Joe, I was in there just beforee x-mas, bought some black hills, winchester white and winchester superX to see what my new AR likes. I have been fairly impressed with what I have seen there so far. |

Let me know cause I'll be purchasing a Bushy M4 in a couple of months.
