Just Called Ms. Coz.

I'm in Louisiana.  She tells me that our white dog must have gotten out of the kitchen during the day somehow and knocked fake logs around in the fireplace, and knocked a picture off the fireplace.
I ask "Honey, is covered in black soot?" She says "no" and I can hear in her voice that she knows what I know.....An animal has come in through the chimney while she was at work.

She's freaking out as only a redhead can!  I tell her to let the dogs in the den and they'll let you know if it's still there. It is. I said let the Jack Russells kill it. She won't. Afraid of rabies or whatever.

I call animal control . It's a shelter. I end up calling Harris County Sherriff's.  They are calling her now...  Updates as it happens.

A squirrel came in once before but was stupid enough to make it into the kitchen and the JRT killed it.

Funny but scary.   Deputy called her.....they said they will send someone........

If I was at home, I'd have let the Jack Russell's take care of it. Vicky had hell getting them herded away from the love seat.

She saw it curled up and shaking behind the love seat

Sean has seen Austin, our oldest JRT, and he can attest that Austin would destroy that little beast.

Photo Server seems to be down, so I can't post pics of my dogs....and Vicky ain't gonna be taking pictures....she's sitting in the kitchen with the dogs herded behind gates, watching The Apprentice.

Now that's funny...  We live in this big ass house that we would sell if we could get a loan for a small one. It's  3150 sq. ft. four bedroom, four bath, huge swimming pool, game room the whole bit....but, if we sell it we'll be homeless because we wouldn't qualify for a home loan right now...no way, no how...

Me, Ms. Coz and three dogs....

Situtation Status: 5x5.

All is well.

1st deputy comes in. Moves love seat, opens front door and attempts to chase the squirrel out the door. The beast runs up and down stairs evadingd the deputy with ease.  2nd deputy shows up (Call for backup?) and starts laughing.

Ms. Coz says. "I'm so sorry that you are having to run up and down the stairs...I do have  a Jack Russell. Do you think he could help?  Deputies laugh and say "Yeah, that's what they do".  So, Austin is brought in. 20 lbs of white dog bred to chase foxes down hole and kill them.  So the deputies run up stairs after Austin yelling "Get him Austin!"  Finally, they get a broom and Austin understands and chases the beast to the door and they push it out the door. Austin then decides it's time to jump and down and get white dog hairs all over the nice deputies.

The 2nd deputy laughed the whole time and they both loved Austin.

Ms. Coz is retiring to bed, but her adrenaline is pumping....All is well.

Probably not in your den though....

Of course a Jack Russell can be pretty damaging....

So funny that I told her: "Put the other dogs outside and Austin will take care of it"

Deputies had a laugh. She said the 1st guy was a bit overweight and after running up and down the stairs a few times was huffing and puffing.

Working away from home four nights a week can be a pain........

Wait. The Deputies left your dogs alive? Something is missing here. Nobody has a LEO story without a dog being killed. Is it possible that some of those stories are - - - - Jaded? Say it isn't so.

Glad everything worked out well. Good to see an LEO story with a happy ending and the cop was a good guy for once.
