Can anyone recommend some great gun shops either in San Antonio or Corpus Christi?

Nagel's is a big shop in San Antonio. It is off san Pedro near North Star Mall. Also on the south side is Dury's Gun Shop off I-37 and Hot Wells Blvd.

Try looking in the hometown section. I has an area specifically for Texas; I'm sure they'll have a good answer for you.

You might also try Powerhorn in SA. Its off of 410 near Highway 90. Not the biggest place, but always willing to accomodate your needs.

Nagel's is full retail and employees don't have a very good attitude. The do have a good selection.
One of the gunsmiths (Bill Keller) does a world class blue job and fine stock work.

Dury's (last time I was there) is better to deal with, and a bit cheaper.

Don't have much experience with Powderhorn but they have a good reputation.

If you're looking for a gun, you might also check out the gun shows. San Antonio has a pretty good show--first Saturday and Sunday every month.

imcoltsguy has it right, especially about Nagel's. I've purchased about $3K worth from them since 1999, but that doesn't seem to matter.
