Just returned from there today after herding around a bunch of sixth grade band students. Just FYI they have a proper 30.06 sign posted at the front gate and now have the metal detectors turned up to full fry. No pocket knives, leatherman tools, folders etc are allowed inside the park. You can "check" them with security if you "forget" and try to enter with them. Afraid not I took mine back to the car. The young female rent a cop at the gate looked like she had just found a smelly turd when she saw my Buck 301 pocket knife in the basket. Oh well, guess I've spent my last buck at Six Flags. BTW they searched my wife's purse TWICE before she could go in.

In Texas you can carry in any amusement park, unless they have 30.06. http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/statutes/petoc.html Pay particular attention to (i), in 46.035. For a while, Six Flags was so anal they were not even letting LEOs carry, until LEOs stopped working the traffic details outside the park, then they relented. |

46.035 seems to state that you cannot carry a firearm into an amusement park liek Six Flags. Six Flags meets all the restrictions, open 120 or more days per year, over 75 acres, permanent facility, and full time security. "46.035. UNLAWFUL CARRYING OF HANDGUN BY LICENSE HOLDER. (a) A license holder commits an offense if the license holder carries a handgun on or about the license holder's person under the authority of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, and intentionally fails to conceal the handgun. (b) A license holder commits an offense if the license holder intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries a handgun under the authority of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, regardless of whether the handgun is concealed, on or about the license holder's person:............. (5) in an amusement park; or................. (1) "Amusement park" means a permanent indoor or outdoor facility or park where amusement rides are available for use by the public that is located in a county with a population of more than one million, encompasses at least 75 acres in surface area, is enclosed with access only through controlled entries, is open for operation more than 120 days in each calendar year, and has security guards on the premises at all times. The term does not include any public or private driveway, street, sidewalk or walkway, parking lot, parking garage, or other parking area." mm |
I know. At one time it was illegal. But then they changed the law, and instead of just striking it from the law, the chose to add section (i), which invalidates that section if 30.06 is not posted. It is a crazy way to write the law, but it is there. |
Hell, no more delays for me either! "I have a CHL." "Fill out this 4473, and have a good day!" oh, and mm38. further down in 46.035 is this statement:
those subsections are a hospital, amusement park, and church (respectively). |

Sounds like the requirement for the 30-06 sign is a CYA maneuver. As for hospitals, URHC in Wichita Falls and the hospital my wife works at in Dallas do not have 30-05 or 30-06 compliant signs, they do have signs, and I have seen the police escort/arrest people for carrying firearms into the hospitals. mm |
BUT were they CHL holders? |
That's right, MASTERSHIELD, when you want to be above the common folk. Cause we're TRAINED on how to handle a firearm. TXL |
So, like energizer, you just carry all the time? TXL |
| What kind of crap is this.....I am not talking about walking around like A frikken movie with my rifle over my shoulder. I mean I can have the thing in my car with no sucking up to the authorities. Is that ok? I can't stand all the happy horseshit you guys go through to carry so I don't...is that ok? I read the frikken laws and if I buy a chl, I open myself up to more offences than if I just got caught packing without one. I don't go around breaking the unconstitutional laws and I don't brag to everyone that I got my glock on my hip. Of course I don't carry tupperware so that is right out. My .45 carbine is legal to be in the car all the time and I don't have to show the nice trooper my permission slip. That's what annoys the hell out of me. If you want to join the peeps who pay for their right go ahead...I won't carry until I can do it without begging and paying for the damn thing. If I can't get to the car, then shit happens. But dammit get of my back for trying to stick up for what's right. |
Well, all us CHL'ers can still do all that, and a whole lot more. |
Hey calm down dude...geez too much coffee this morning? Or is it just that winning personality of yours shining through again? |
