All - I am new to the website living in the DFW metroplex. I have about a few preban rifles and some complete 'matched' preban upper and lower assemblies that I am thinking of getting rid of. I was wondering how the 'For Sale' section of the site works. I am an individual and was wondering if everyone selling has an FFL -or- if the rifle is sold out of state does it have to be shipped to an FFL holder? Is is simpler to try and find a local buyer? Also can you give me an idea of what the preban stuff goes for. I looked in the 'Rifle and Lower Receiver' section but did not see much of what I have for sale. I went to the Ft. Worth Gun Show a few weeks back and only saw one SP1 and another preban and the seller wanted $1400+. Is that right? The stuff I want to sell is PWA and I may have some DPMS. I know I have a PWA shorty rifle with a collapsible buttstock, A2 upper and a 10 1/2 barrel with the atached 5 1/2 flash hider. What should I expect to get for that? I need to go digging in the safe to find out what else is there. I have not messed with my AR15 stuff since 1992. Thanks for your help. |

the EE part of the board works exceptionally well. (The 4 sale part) PWA and DPMS prebans do not fetch quite the premium of colt sp-1's Make sure you can document the seriel numbers as preban, or they are postban. You should join us at a get together, you may change you mind about selling those babies. TXL |

I know for a fact they are prebans as I purchased them in 1992 & 1993. I lost interest before the postban thing happened. That's why I questioned the EE board as I saw little mention of FFL tansfers. I just wondered if the FFL was a given to post there. I have a Colt 6600 (I think, 20" heavy barrel, full stock, A2) preban I've had since 1992 that I am going to keep. I think I need to let a lot of this stuff go since it has been stuck in my safe for the past 10 years that I have not used. The PWA rifle has never been fired. How do sellers w/o FFLs sell on the EE board? If I sell privately, and the buyer does not have an FFL, how does an out of state trasnsaction take place? Seems simpler to find local buyers. Am I missing something? |

While you may know they are prebans, if they don't fit in the serial numbers posted as prebans, no one else can prove to the ATF that they are prebans. This is all that matters. Someone (some ar maker) had a fire, and lost records of copleted rifles, and hence, they are not prebans, as the onus is on you to prove preban status, not troop f. To sell without an ffl here you need to sell face to face in Texas, to someone who can lawfully own the rifle. Or, you can mail it to a receiving FFL and have them transfer it to the buyer. You don't need an ffl, just typw inpost. face to face, in DFW orTexas (depending on travel). It is simpler to sell in Texas for you. Anything mailed needs to go to an ffl. Good luck TXL |

For TX residents = legal to do private transfer without FFL For out of state purchases = must go thru the BUYERS FFL(an FFL of his/her choosing). Get signed copy of BUYERS FFL and the FFL's address to ship to. Keep copy for your records along with copy of payment. Ship to BUYERS FFL. As far as pricing, a complete rifle PWA and SP1's are going for around $1200. If you have extras like optics, RAS rails, light etc. It could be more. I would post it around $1400 and see if you have any takers. Go from there. Posting pics can help sell it faster. On a personal note I am looking for a pre-ban. However, I am unemployed. If I get a job soon, I may just look you up. I am interested in the PWA. |
