Bringing the family down to Myrtle beach next weekend and was looking for any recommendations on seafood buffets, pier fishing and head boat fishing. Anyone have any suggestions or thoughts? 4 kids 9yr-1yr old.

Thanks

We just ate at Captain Georges it is by far one of the most disgusting places I have ever eaten in. Everything was saturated with butter the food was just sub quality dog shit. As a matter of fact I wouldn't feed my dog this shit .If we are asking for places to eat give us some decent off the beaten path places not a fucking pig house on 17 . How bad was it ? Even our own server said he wouldn't eat there. This place is made for people who don't give a dam about their bodies and what they put into it.. I would not eat in any of these shit holes on the list. This place was $32 per person, for that price I could have bought 5 boxes of 22lr at the Bass Pro shop and  would have been better off.

Let me go take a shit and get this poison out of my body I'm done with this rant .

I don't mean to offend anyone

Have to agree with Sdsquid on this one. That article needs to be renamed "The Top Five Seafood Tourist Traps in Myrtle Beach". The good places are the smaller places that fly under the radar of Tourist Advertising. Yea, I know several, but they are in Surfside and Murrells Inlet.

In fact, This thread inquiring about Myrtle Beach and sister threads inquiring about Charleston come up SOOO often, that there should be a sticky thread for each of them.

Stay away from buffets. They will all suck. The Chesapeake House is probably the best stereotypical seafood restaurant in Myrtle.

Went to Charleston had lunch at Griffons and diner at 82.Queen.The food is outstanding and everything about Charleston is incredible . On our way down 17 south  there was a sign that said rifle range very noticeable any info on the range ? I'm not sure if it was before or after that abandoned huge steel mill.

I am a southern living in the North as a Yankee. I thought I was born in the north but must have been kidnapped by some Yankees and led to believe a am a northern.

My love of the south is unwavering and  I want to move here immediately but I'm just not sure where.  Are there good strongholds of conservative thinkers and strong southern values within a radius of 10 miles of Charleston ? Or just give some advice as to where my family can settle? We are open to all suggestion. we like our  my freedom and we do need some culture ,golf and good food most importantly along with genuine friends...

Thanks

That rifle range you saw is Twin Ponds in the Francis Marion National Forest. It's an unregulated 100 yard range that is open sunup to sundown. Not a terrible place to shoot, but it can get trashy and busy. Only about 5 minutes off 17 and 30 from Charleston. Boggy Head is another range in the national forest.

As far as places to live on the coast that have some culture, obviously Charleston is great, but it's a very expensive area to live. If you make six figures and can afford a 500k house, you will love it. If not, it can be a struggle.

I really like the Georgetown area. It's cheaper than Charleston but still has plenty of access to the water, golf, places to hunt, etc. It has a pretty downtown with shops and restaurants, and you are close enough to both Charleston and the beaches to the north of Georgetown, that you'll never run out of stuff to do. I think Georgetown will really take off in the next ten to fifteen years as Charleston truly becomes overpopulated.

It was between Georgetown (abandoned steel mill), and Charleston.  Isn't there a big "CLOSED" sign on the range sign?

Sorry I don't think of conservatives when I think of the coast compared to the rest of the state.  I'd say Georgetown and Murrels Inlet are you best bets, or maybe Cherry grove too.  Those all are close enough to the golf/shopping/attractions of Myrtle Beach but far enough away for a little peace.

Edit: I have been looking in the Mt Pleasant area.

Thanks for the information I have got to get out of NY but I do need some culture in my new life.
