Does anybody know of any firearm related job openings in SC? I have worked in my LGS for about three years and have experience with range operation, customer service, and a little NFA work. I ultimately want to get into law enforcement, but it sounds like whether or not I get experience in NC I will need to attend the state-operated law enforcement training in SC if I get a job down there. With that in mind, I want to look at moving the SO and myself down there to settle a bit before I start applying for that sector. The SO's parents are moving to Columbia for a career change. While I wouldn't be against being close to them, it isn't necessary. That job field really isn't something you can reliably search through online, sadly. If anybody has any info, it would be greatly appreciated.

I would go ahead and just start sending in filled out applications with every department in the area you wish to move to.  No point in waiting to find a job just to then apply.  There are plenty of departments looking.

I don't know about any specific openings but you might check with FN Manufacturing in Columbia and Daniel Defense in Ridgeland.

I also have it on good authority that the Bluffton PD will soon be looking to add ten officers.

The primary issue I have is that many of the departments I have looked at list being a SC resident/having a SC drivers license as a requirement for hiring (Bluffton was actually one of the department that lists the drivers license requirement). That is one reason I wanted to move down and get settled first. However, it can't hurt to apply and explain that I can move as long as given reasonable timing to get everything situated. If they say no thanks, I am not exactly set back any further. Thanks for the heads up on Bluffton. I may as well give them a call whenever they start taking applications.

They pay starvation wages. County actually pays a little better but not much.
