| So how does his death shape Canadian politics? |

So how does his death shape Canadian politics? He aint gonna be leadin' no coalitions But seriously, he was the only opposition leader who had any national credibility. Plus, the media, political and cultural elite loved him. He was the only one who could have maintained some of the NDPs gains in Quebec. With Jack gone, any coalition of the Liberals and NDP is no more likely than when he was alive. Boob Rae and the NDP Quebec seperatist lady are no opposition to Harper. It's like deja vu of 1993, when the old PCs got wiped out. There is no opposition in parliament to Harper. Just the media, the academia and the big unions, and they've been backing the wrong team. |

Thanks Not much of a deal was made of his death here in the US I'm actually surprised anyone there knows who he was. I respected him as a man but the NDP are closet commies.. Fairly well known in the states for a Canadian politician. Popular with academia. I think they were longing for an accesable socialist-lite influential politician in the anglosphere to model their ideals upon. |
