I want to get into ice fishing. What do I need to know? Not looking to spend a lot of money.

Don't care if I'm in a shack or not. Borrow a power auger and get some old fashioned tip ups. Under 100 bucks including beer. This sounds good to me. Recommended beer/whiskey for ice fishing? |

I think if I were to get into it (and I consider it every few years), I would be bored to tears waiting for the tip ups (curling or not). I think I'd want a line in the water myself. |

For a beginner I would say your best chances are with tipups,however a properly equipped and experienced jigger can pull a good pile of fish out of the water. A hardcore jigger will most likely deploy a sonar to see what he is fishing for. Most guys get started with the basics and then it becomes an obsession to get more and better stuff,kinda like shooting. |
