Just went to pick up the form for another Pistol Permit and the guy asked me when i got my FID card. He said it has to be renewed every 5 years now and its like doing the whole process all over again... Yeah im pretty sure ive used this quite a few times in the past few years. I did the electronic fingerprints 4 years ago and the last time i applied for a PP was 2 years ago and i never heard anything about this.
Is he confusing my FID date with the last time i got ink prints done before the electronic done or is he/PD just making shit up? Because he said on the application to check off "Application for PP" and write in my FID card. If i had to renew my FID wouldnt i have to do otherwise? For fucks sake. |

Show him your FID card and ask him to point out the expiration date on the card.
When he says he can't find it, ask him, since the date isn't shown on the card, where the records of FID card expiration dates are kept. When he says he doesn't know, ask him how he can be certain that any FID card is valid or expired. Then perhaps he'll be more receptive to the reality that NJ FID cards DO NOT EXPIRE. |

Who is the guy asked me Yeah in my town its whoever is behind the dispatch window. And its not even just the FID, he wants me to do the electronic fingerprints again which are another $50 something on top of the FID cost. Im just going to fill out the regular stuff for the PP and try to hand it in. If he gives me a hard time then ill challenge it. |

However, whether or not to get fingerprinted is at the discretion of the issuing authority. From 2C:58-3(e): Applications for permits to purchase a handgun and for firearms purchaser identification cards shall be in the form prescribed by the superintendent [...]
The chief police officer or the superintendent shall obtain the fingerprints of the applicant and shall have them compared with any and all records of fingerprints in the municipality and county in which the applicant resides and also the records of the State Bureau of Identification and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, provided that an applicant for a handgun purchase permit who possesses a valid firearms purchaser identification card, or who has previously obtained a handgun purchase permit from the same licensing authority for which he was previously fingerprinted, and who provides other reasonably satisfactory proof of his identity, need not be fingerprinted again; however, the chief police officer or the superintendent shall proceed to investigate the application to determine whether or not the applicant has become subject to any of the disabilities set forth in this chapter. Note the "need not". Does not say "will not", "shall not", or any other compulsory language. "Need not" leaves it to the discretion of the issuing authority. Meaning - if they feel like making your life difficult, they could require fingerprinting each and every time you apply for a purchase permit. The "incentive" for them to not do this previously was the extra work it caused them. Now, with fingerprinting being outsourced, it's no longer any skin off their nose - so requiring prints poses no additional burden on them. Try showing him the statute (again, 2C:58-3(e)), but in the end, I don't know that you've got a lot of recourse here. |

When i said i got my FID well over 5 years ago i think he might have thought that was the last time i got my FINGERPRINTS done. It's bullshit if i have to get them done again. |

You would think Legislators get paid by the amount of bills they propose and pass. And all because the "people" are too stupid to figure it out or know enough for themselves AND need protecting. 41% of the people polled in NJ were/are wanting to leave this state. MD,CT, IL nearly 50%! Some of the "infected" leave go to a good state and as their population and when there is enough infection to vote dirt bags in, they do corrupt another "decent" place to live. I had the opportunity to move to pa when I first started my job but being a rookie I couldn't afford to buy a house.. A year or two later and the law was passed forcing us to all stay That's exactly what happened to me. When I was in The State Academy in Trenton, half the cars in the parking lot were PA tags, pretty bad when you have to pass a law to keep your people from leaving |
