I had someone (NJ Resident) tell me they wanted to get a shotgun and an air rifle. Can they buy either in PA and bring it into NJ and legally possess it without a NJ FID card?

I know if you get them in another state as a resident and move into NJ don't need one. But how is it if you are already a NJ resident.

I'm planning on taking them shooting as soon as I can find some 22 ammo to show em a few gun related things.
Secondly can I buy an Air Rifle out of state without a transfer, and possess it in NJ. I do have a FID card.

As a resident of NJ, you may purchase an air rifle (not considered a firearm in PA, nor in most of the US), but you can't purchase a shotgun in PA without an NJ FID.  The reason is, as an FFL, they must make sure the transfer of a firearm complies with the laws in both PA and NJ, and NJ requires you to have an FID.

Just don't mail order the air rifle into the State of NJ.

You can physically go get it and bring it back and that's fine.
