Was reading an article that asserted there are 3.75 million ARs in the US.
Anyone have any guesses on the number of ARs and magazines in NJ? Anyone have any idea where we might be able to get real numbers? |
| Plus the 75 that were registered for the last assault ban (that's number I've heard but can not confirm. I was one of them, have a Colt bought in 77, collapsible stock, bayonet lug and 30 round mags still legal for me. Unless its changed that has always been the advantage of registering that gun was 30 round legal mags were grandfathered. |

105,000 assuming your 3.75 million is correct. NJ has 2.8% of the US population, assume your ARs owned per resident is equally distributed. I was originally thinking just a straight 2% (3.75MM / 50 states), but this certainly makes sense. Thanks for the suggestion. As to everyone else, yes I meant the substantially different weapons that cosmetically resemble the banned Colt AR-15. |

most important point is no one knows, if we can keep them from passing a dumb ass law w/maditory registration maybe best we don't know! I don't disagree, but my question had more to do with fiscal responsibility. If our politicians are advocating limiting our rights and buying back those things which have been deemed illegal, what's the price tag. 2.8% of 3.75 MM is 105k. On the low end right now we're talking about a market price of probably $1600 so we're talking about $168,000,000 of buyback for rifles. Assuming 4 mags per rifle owner we've got 420k mags. At a $30 per mag price we're talking another 12.6m. Grand total of $180,600,000. Can we afford that? |

Also, if this theoretical buyback is a "mandatory" theoretical buyback, you can expect to be compensated at $150 to $250 per AR, not market value. |

If that much, NJ is broke, they can barely afford to maintain the level of bribes they are used too, Lawsuit, injunction, and keep them so busy |
