| Is it just me or are people on the EE board now starting to price goudge? its bad enough the gun show prices are insane. |

Quoted:
Since there is so much demand the manufacturers should hire more workers to produce more product and start supplying the distributors. more jobs, more product, happy shooters.. win win for everyone.. but that would require common sense 1. Price gouging doesn't exist....supply and demand 2. Many mfg's are currently at maximum production capacity 3. Capital expenditure on additional equipment to expand during the largest gun purchasing bubble in US history would not be the wisest of decisions. |

Capital expenditure on additional equipment to expand during the largest gun purchasing bubble in US history would not be the wisest of decisions. If I was selling I would put stuff up for bid. The more unsure the future the more scare items are perceived to be the more demand and the more sellers can and will and should ask. This is not a time for paying it forward, unless you are selling to a friend who is more valuable to you than money could ever be. |
| How can you expect a normal person to know what the future is going to hold and start "preparing" for it??? did you have a crystal ball that told you there were going to be multiple mass shootings? and to drown out that theory, then dont you think that the manufacturers should have prepared as well for the high demand since we're all using this imaginary crystal ball and should know what the future holds? Why didnt the manufactures boost up their supplies for this "known" crisis? You guys expect the little guys to know what the future is going to hold and start preparing but its okay if the manufacturers dont do their part |

Uh, history has dictated it previously and as recently as 2008. did you have a crystal ball that told you there were going to be multiple mass shootings? It's not about having a crystal ball, it's about having the awareness to purchase gradually over a period of time so that you're not caught unprepared. and to drown out that theory, then dont you think that the manufacturers should have prepared as well for the high demand since we're all using this imaginary crystal ball and should know what the future holds? Why didnt the manufactures boost up their supplies for this "known" crisis? Manufacturers cannot afford to speculate in that manner because it costs them money to add machinery, add labor etc... Having excessive inventory sitting around in a warehouse costs money....too much money. You guys expect the little guys to know what the future is going to hold and start preparing but its okay if the manufacturers dont do their part We expect the little guys to be constantly be preparing, not crying that they were caught with their pants down and how unfair it is that they can't get everything that they want, when they want it for the price they want to pay. How can you expect a normal person to know what the future is going to hold and start "preparing" for it??? No one can know for sure what may happen but you can go by yours and others past experiences and prepare for those. Prep for the most likely events first. Job loss, illness, auto repair costs, power failure, marxist in chief, etc. Then go from there. This 190 page thread in the SF may give you some ideas what you can do to prep for your self so that the next time a shortage occurs, you will be in better shape. What Did You Do To Prep Today - Part VI Good luck! |

Just received this in an email. All I can say is it's good to have a nice stash!!
When do you think ammo will be back in normal stock? Why then? Even the question is tough because of the differing types of ammo. I posted an earlier Pmag timeframe thread and this got posted "Status Update By Valley Guns II Attention F.B. fans: to follow will be several IMPORTANT Info updates about the status of the gun industry currently, followed by an INVENTORY UPDATE: 1) We traveled to Texas for Industry meetings concerning the shortages, here's what we were told. Smith & Wesson-is running at Full capacity making 300+ guns/day-mainly M&P pistols. They are unable to produce any more guns to help with the shortages. RUGER: Plans to increase from 75% to 100% in the next 90 days. FNH: Moving from 50% production to 75% by Feb 1st and 100% by March 1. Remington-Maxed out! Armalite: Maxed out. DPMS: Can't get enough parts to produce any more product. COLT: Production runs increasing weekly...bottle necked by Bolt carrier's. LWRC:Making only black guns, running at full capacity...can't get enough gun quality steel to make barrels. Springfield Armory: Only company who can meet demand but are running 30-45 days behind. AMMO: Every caliber is now Allocated! We are looking at a nation wide shortage of all calibers over the next 9 months. All plants are producing as much ammo as possible w/ of 1 BILLION rnds produced weekly. Most is military followed by L.E. and civilians are third in line. MAGPUL is behind 1 MILLION mags, do not expect any large quanties of magpul anytime soon. RELOADERS!!!! ALL Remington, Winchester, CCI & Federal primers are going to ammo FIRST. There are no extra's for reloading purposes....it could be 6-9 months b/f things get caught up. Sorry for the bleek news, but now we know what to expect in the coming months. Stay tuned, we'll keep you posted. To follow is our inventory update for 1/26/13. Please share this info with your shooting buddies. Shoot safe!" |

Aim small, shoot small.... ;) and no "blasting" no mini-gun blasting, unless you have the resources. Getting back to the OP, "Those who ignore history are bound (or doomed) to repeat it" is actually a mis-quotation of the original text written by George Santayana, who, in his Reason in Common Sense, The Life of Reason, Vol.1, wrote "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." |

Anyone who tried to buy ammo in 2008 started buying in 2011 and sat home laughing at prices after mid 2012. Knowing that my state gets hit with ten year storms every ten years or so, I own a generator. Having had a couple flat tires I carry an inflator and plug kit in my trunk. Does all this really escape you? |

Since there is so much demand the manufacturers should hire more workers to produce more product and start supplying the distributors. more jobs, more product, happy shooters.. win win for everyone.. but that would require common sense
Not that simple, many of the factories are running 24/7/365 now. It is expansion, new machines, that is investment and they don't want to take a chance. What if there is an ammo ban? then idle production, but still cost of capitalization.... |

OP - how old are you? I don't post that question as an insult so please don't take it that way. I would venture to say alot of us started getting into firearms at some point after childhood - I did.
My dad is not a "gun guy" so I picked up the hobby / sport in my late teens / early 20s. All I can say to the noobs is it sucks to be you at this particular moment and although frustrating, PONY UP as you can to get essentials / most wanted items if you can. Then HOPE n PRAY that common sense and brave individuals prevail. As others have said, your sarcasm regarding the "crystal ball" doesnt bode well here. Alot of us here not only prepare guns-n-ammo wise, but for other events as well. Within reason, stock up on CASH, water, food, fuel (or at least fuel containers), back up light, power, HEAT, etc. Again, NOT Doomsday Prepper bullshit - reasonable, rational preparations. Sometimes you have a figurative crystal ball - we knew for a few days that Sandy was coming - we knew at least yesterday that tornados might hit today and they did - you knew that there was a socialist/communist/ insert your favorite insult here in the White House FOR THE LAST FOUR FUCKING YEARS and to my shocking dismay is in the cat-bird seat for another four - i still cant believe it.... Dude, don't bitch about our free market economy and wake the hell up. Shit, when the tiny 800 watt genny at Harbor Frieght went on sale for 100 beans a pop a couple weeks ago, I bought 2 for myself ( a genny for $100 fucking bucks that will run your fridge!) and seriously thought about laying out a grand and putting a few away for the next major storm and selling them on the side of the road when the SHTF. Thoughts of price gouging laws in some states during emergencies threw water on that idea. Perhaps you'll have the opportunity to learn from these uncertain times and PREPARE YOURSELF.... You can tell my to go fuck myself and that's perfectly fine with me or NOT - your life, your family, your choice brah. |

First off age has absolutely nothing to do with anything. I'm not arguing the point of being prepared. I have my necessities stockpiled away like everyone else does. Not once did I mention anything about ammo prices which is what your assuming. For crying out loud, everything gun related has tripled or more in price. If you guys break something and need a new one does that mean you got caught with your pants down? dont you think every one of us that is paying almost $4 a gallon for gas is currently getting caught with their pants down? shouldnt we all have gotten 1000 gallon tanks in our back yards and fill them with fuel when the price was $2?? The concept is no different than stockpiling your ammo when the prices were low. Didnt mean to start an argument on here. But in all reality the blame here lies with the people that are attempting to buy everything up now because of fear and not having an ample supply of whatever they feel they need now. All i was looking for was some reloading equipment and getting raped in the process |

I have a survivalist friend who is always buy 2 of everything, including Generators of both GAS, LP/NP. His wife want to emasculate him!

| listen.....just look arund, some people are not pricing everything up.....i just bough 5 stripped lowers from a guy in ohio for 130 ea, and i went and visited my dad in georgia and stopped by georgia arms and got 500 rounds of 223 and 500 rounds of 9mm for 420 bucks, and they ship......just take the time and look around and u will find what ur looking for, it takes less time to search thean it does to whine about prices to everyone |
