If you guys had ordered a stripped lower for one price, only to be overcharged because of price raising (panic gouging) would you bring it to the comany's attention that they overcharged you even though they may have accidentally doubled your order but only charged you once? And if they did accidentally send you two lowers would you keep the extra or tell them they made a mistake? Thoughts

You would be sinning my son if you kept it. Send it to me, immediately. Now do 5 Hail Mary's and 2 Our Fathers.... Please say the Act of Contrition. I absolve you..... .

I take it you guys dont have a problem with keeping the extras lol. Might be looking for trades soon.ill let you know how it works out. I probably would have told them if they didnt charge an extra $75 a piece even though my order was placed before the increase in price.

So basically you ordered 3 at $75 a piece but they sent and charged you for 6 lowers at $75 a piece? If so you scored considering today's market prices. I don't see any problem keeping them all.

I ordered 3 @$100 they charged $175 a piece. So if it works out ill get 6 for $525. Im not sure how I feel about keeping the extra 3.

You placed an order when they were listed as $100 each and they charged your credit card at $175 each without even contacting you?  That doesn't sound legal, who's the vendor?  If they did ship you 6 lowers accidentally I'd contact them and tell them you'll keep all 6 for $100 each.

In our fine state of NJ, don't you need a "pistol permit" to take possession  of a stripped lower?

So I can have it sent to an FFL and with a NICS check walk out with the lower?

Yes.

Lowers are kind of a strange grey area in NJ. They really aren't a "rifle or shotgun" that your FPID allows you to purchase or a "handgun" that requires a pistol purchase permit. They are marked on the federal form as "Other", although NJ dealers in my experience list them on the CoE as a "rifle receiver" and transfer them like a long gun. Under federal law you need to be  21 to purchase a lower from a FFL, again since it is not a "rifle or shotgun".

This was more of a moral question. I know its wrong to keep them but I feel a bit justified since they plunged me deep on the pricing.

Call the company, tell them that they mailed you too many but they are already logged as your name (the FFL has to log it upon arrival).  The company will probably tell you to keep them.

If you have to ask...

Who is the vendor that raised the price on you after you placed the order?

I understand what your going through.  I spend a LOT of money both personally and professionally with Brownells and they always treat me very well.  I once placed a fairy large business order with them and I split it into two separate orders because of the payment method.  I received the first order and the next day received a second box which contained an exact duplicate of the first order, invoice and all.  I immediately called Brownells and told them about it fearing that it would screw up my line item account and the woman on the other end of the line made it a point to rub it in my face that I wouldn't have been charged twice and that I should have basically kept it.  I told her that I still didn't pay for it, didn't intend to pay for it and wanted to send it back.  Right, wrong or indifferent I got a return label and sent it back.
Two days later I got the second half of my order, then a day after that got a compete copy of the second part of my order...  I kinda felt as if Brownells was so careless to do this twice even after I called them and told them about it, that shame on them I should keep it.  That box sat untouched for weeks because of my internal moral dilemma.  I won't say what I did because I don't want to start a war on here or act as if my belief's should be yours but I think I did the right thing.  While I do sometimes wish I was born without morals and integrity, because I see everyday how that kind of mentality could serve an intelligent and experienced man quite lucratively; it's just not the case here and for the most part I'm glad of that.  All I can say is I honesty don't know if I would have made the same decision had this order been placed with Botach or CDT...  I don't know if that justifies anything or not or if it even makes sense to you, but I'm sure many people on this site can relate.

I'm not saying you should keep them and I'm not saying that you should send them back.  I'm saying that you should make a decision that doesn't compromise your personal morality.  Don't allow a couple hundred dollars worth of aluminum to influence a compromise of your personality and beliefs.  If keeping them fits within your belief of what the morally correct act would be, than keep them.  If what I like to call "Robin Hooding" them fits within your moral beliefs, then by all means, sell them at pre-craze prices to people who need them and make their days.  If you feel that once they're in your possession they're yours and to do as you wish, sell them at post craze prices and enjoy the $1500+ you just made.  But if keeping them will in any way make you question yourself or make you feel like your doing something wrong, send them back.
