I've never seen it this bad. Not only is .223 ammo next to impossible to find but just about any other bulk rifle ammo is in the same predicament.

Aim, Copes and many others have no .223, 7.62 x 39mm, 5.45 x 39mm or .308. Not only that but even bullets to reload for these calibers are near impossible to find. I'm seeing 55 gr. .223 bullets sell for $160.00 per 1000 and they sell out in a matter of minutes by private sellers. I'm even seeing .223 once fired brass selling for over $100.00 a 1000.

No major distributors have any at all.  MidwayUSA will not even accept a back order anymore as they say they don't expect a full restock for 6 months, maybe longer.

Spoke to a Buddy of mine today in FL. who was at a large gun show. No .223 ammo anywhere and he saw a few cases of Wolf 7.62 x 39mm selling for $440.00 a case. Even saw a USGI 30 round aluminum for the asking price of $75.00.

Primers are getting scarce too. Try to find any CCI #41 primers.

He was told by a very large dealer that ammo was only going to the larger dealers. Federal said it may take up to over a year to get back to normal. If your not a large dealer like Gander Mountain or Cabelas then good luck, your not going to see any for a long time.

All I can say is it's good to be a reloader. I'm fully stocked and can reload for 22 different calibers.

As for. 22's...

Last night I went to Dicks in MOORESTOWN.
They only had 2 100 round Remington target boxes which I bought.
Then...
Went over to Dicks in CHERRY HILL.
They only had 1box of .22 bulk CCI which I bought.

NO 223 at all in each store.

They did still have shotgun rounds though but the cubbards were pretty bare.

I stopped in the Bullet Hole Monday morning and they had nothing. The week before, they had some .223 PMC bronze and were rationing it to 3 boxes max.   I have been shopping various forums to see what pops up for a good deal and have a couple WTB ads.  A little bit here and a little bit there is adding up..

Everything ammo is hard to find and when you do, expect to pay.

For those that were caught with their stocks depleted, where have you been for the last four years?

Here is a great search engine website that will at least help you find what you need until this blows over.

Remember, demand and supply determines price.

Better than gold right now.

Not quite.  Let's see if my math is right.

Gold @ $1684/troy oz
480 grains per troy oz
Gold cost = $3.51/grain.

If you figure an XM855 round = 190 grains total, then a single round would have to cost $666.90 (190 x $3.51) to match the price of gold.

I have about 2500 bullets coming for reloading, I am glad I stocked up on the popular calibers years ago. By bench is running and I have a good supply of components...now to hide from friends that are begging out of panic....they didn't listen when I warned them

And there are some in Survival forum that are selling off their ammo, and waiting for it to go down in price to buy it back

That seems like a big risk for little reward, but I guess some people will do anything to make a buck without earning it. Irony and Karma can be a mofo sometimes, I wouldn't tempt it.

I am not bothering with them on it, they think anyone that won't rip off someone is an asshole. I am set, but that is from prepping for almost 40 years. Right now it is about growing food.

This reminds me of the guys that sold off their gold when it was approaching $700/ oz. They're still waiting to buy back in at a lower price.

Some Ammo makers are sold out for their entire 2013 production output.

I don't think prices will come down anytime soon.
