Bought a half case of Tok ammo from Classic Arms and the box showed up at my door today. The box had a giant Silver Bear 7.62x39 logo on it with cartridge picture and all. UPS guy knew what it was and asked if i got it for cheap.

Im not the paranoid tinfoil hat type, but this just seems kinda dumb especially in the PRNJ

I'm willing to bet thieves grabbing it out of the mail would be a bigger problem than jack booted thugs coming for your boolitts.

My UPS guy knows what it is no matter how it's packaged.
I guess the "ORM" and other haz mat markings tell all.

The UPS guys are pretty sharp. They also know, plain box = PORNO!

I am certified to ship hazmat and technically it should only have to say ORM-D Small arms cartridges but sometimes they just put ORM-D consumer commodity in which that case you cant really tell. All of the other classes 1-9 are kind of general and sometimes only require the UN # and not the actual name of whats inside.
Of course the guy could just bust out his 29cfr tables if hes that bored and see exactly what it is.

Either way the way this arrived was kinda pushing my luck. Who knows, the guy who steals the ammo might want the rifle it belongs to as well...

One time I came home from work to find three cases of Winchester 9mm on my doorstep, labeled plain as day "Winchester, Centerfire Cartridges, 9mm Nato, 10 Boxes" in addition to the blatant "ORM-D Small Arms Ammunition" sticker. Anyone walking or driving by could see it from the street

I can't believe these companies haven't realized that most people who order ammo would like it to be shipped discreetly.

Everything from Amazon comes in a plain box!

My best was coming home from work (while still in NJ) and finding my 3K custom 1911 on the doorstep. Plain box gun pron.

My UPS guy is at my house so much, he pretty much knows my whole life story.  Just based on the box, weight and shipper they know what they're carrying for the most part...  Hell, he probably knows my whole collection of guns, tools and every mod done to my cars.  He's cool though and makes every effort to stash my shit in inconspicuous places.  Sometimes if I'm not home he'll finish his route and hit me up on the way back too which is mighty cool of him.
I'd be more concerned about the thieves though too, like stated above.  Because of my profession and current assignment, my neighbors all know I have guns and some of the scary, evil black variaty; but I do try to be as discreet as possible.  Having a case of ammo sitting on my stoop for a few hours (should I not be there to get it right away) is not my idea of discreet and just invites bad intentions...
I agree OP, FAIL on the packaging and I think you should let them know your displeasure.

I'm sure this makes them feel safe.

I hope you don't work at the post office.

I used to work in a chemical plant.I didnt work in the labeling area, but still had to do all the training. I forgot a lot (It's been a while) but I remember that you can look up the numbers and figure out what's in a labeled package/container.
Fun times.

The last time UPS dropped off a shipment for me, the poor driver needed to use a hand truck to get the 2 cases of 1,000 rounds from the truck to my porch.  Wasn't the first time either.
