Based on NJ's evil features in regards to EBRs, how does the state view the bullet button in order to have a different evil feature?

They're only legal in CA due to their law specifically stating that a magazine that requires a "tool" to remove it is not legally considered detachable. There is no such wording in NJ law. I don't see the point anyway, why would you give up the most important functionality of the rifle (quick magazine changes) in order to regain minor features like a flash hider and collapsible stock?

No substance here in NJ in either law or precedence.  But precedence can always be made.
