Does any one know where to purchase stripped lowers in NJ? I would like to see what I am buying rather than buy online and have to have it shipped to a FFL

Contact Paul at Arms-N-Ammo: http://www.arms-n-ammo.com/

He had several lowers in stock last time I was there.

Last time I was there, he had:

Smith & Wesson
POF
CMMG
and others...

I just had a Spike's Tactical (Punisher) shipped to him. If it's there, I'm sure he will let you look at it?

You can try some of the PA dealers.  If you don't mind doing so, I know there's a dealer called Northeast Firearms up near Honesdale, PA.  My buddy has a big piece of property up near there that we camp at a couple times a year.  My brother bought his M4 from there and had nothing but good things to say about him.  Might be closer to you than any of the NJ places that have been mentioned.  I think there's a dealer in Calcoon NY too that they said was good to go, but I've never had any experience with them.
You won't be able to get pistols from them without a Jersey transferee, but long guns are good to go.

He won't be able to purchase a lower from a dealer in another state, they are classified as "other" on the 4473.

I was under the impression that if it has a buttstock on it when its transferred, it's considered a rifle?  Not the case?

that's what I thought... I guess it depends on the FFL and their interpretation of the law.

Thanks, I was in the Ramsey outdoor store on Tuesday I asked about shipping a lower to them they said $35 + NIC check fee so I may just order a spikes and have it shipped to them. They also had two Colts MT6400R and I believe a C for around $1200 the also had a M&P 15 for $800 and change but only in .223 I may just order the Spikes lower and save up a couple months and get one of the Colts too just not sure which one the R or C.

Get the "c". I wanted the "r" but it was a lot more $$. The "c" was impossible to find at a dealer. The "c" will also give you more options as far as accessory rails vs the fixed mono on the "r".
I also met one of the service reps from Colt in Hartford and he advised me to go with the "c".

FYI..........The newer MT's will no longer come with the muzzle breaks (so add another $175 for a break/thread/weld/pin). I was lucky enough to get the older one with it. If you can find one with, grab it!
