If one was to reside at a different address as listed on their FID card but wanted to apply for handgun permits would he have a problem even though FID and DL addresses are the same?

I will answer YES!

but the easy answer is do a change of address to your current residence and apply for the permit to purchase simultaneously.  The permit will take longer anyway.

The DMV sends a page with new address stickers to use on your DL and other documents.  Can't you put on on your FPID?

I'm pretty sure the FID needs to be signed by the chief in the town youre residing in.
So, the answer is NO. A sticker wont work.

To continue along this theme, how long should it take to get your address updated on the FID card?

They shouldn't have to go back and do that whole background check should they?

I have to get my card updated...I guess I haven't bought anything from a store in a while.

It SHOULD take 5 minutes...  get new card, type it up, put your print on it, give to chief, get it signed, give to applicant.  In reality.....

They shouldn't...  but they do.

You'll probably have it in 2-6 months

Again it all depends on the town. My Son lost his card and waited 10 months for the replacement. Can you say OUTRAGEOUS!!!!

My experience with my address change was a six week wait.

Mileage may vary...

Generally for me it was 4-6 week wait

I waited over a year to change my FID. Changed houses in the same township but didn't feel like subjecting meself to the trouble of dealing with the local PD.
When I did stop by the station, the seargeant asked if I had any trouble finding the building. I was like ???? but found out that I was mistaken for my brother. Seems he stops by the station every month or so for new permits.

well, I just handed in all the paperwork and they do in fact go through all the checks again...just without getting fingerprinted again

they were really helpful though and said it should be a little over a month...they also said they usually wait on the reference checks more than anything else

crazy isn't it?  I could have just gone and changed my drivers license address back to match the FID card and that would have taken 2 weeks (old address is where i grew up)

If info on both are the same (DL&FID) and you go to that local PD it would work. But when they mail you, to let you know it is ready for pick up, someone there better know it is coming for you to let you know.
