Is pistol shooting being allowed in the London games?
Thanks |
|
Yes it is, even though the .22 pistols used are illegal in the UK. I believe the government have given some kind of exception for them just for the games.
I don't know the details, someone will, there'll be more UK guys on later, it's 04:56 over here... |

There are exceptions for the British team shooters who are given sect 5 authority to own a .22 pistol,
These sect 5 authority's are strictly controlled by the team capt/coaches These however come with such strict conditions, the amout of practice available is very little. Most training is carried out with air pistols. Yes the MOD have a selection of pardini pistols, we seem to be the only people who can train regularly As the conditions for the use if them is the same as any other weapon |

I think I read somewhere that the British Olympic shooting team had to train abroad due to UK laws. The exemption is only during the Games. There is 2 places the home office have approved for uk pistol training. The issue is getting the team together to train and getting range space As the range has to be shut off and all doors locked during firing as part of the home office rules So this counts out any outdoor range |

Quoted: I stand corrected, I'm obviously a fuckwit. You may be a fuckwit, but I had read that some had trained abroad as well. Switzerland I think it was... No matter. Of course, technically the UK is ineligible to host the Olympic Games but both the UK Government and the IOC have chosen to ignore this issue......

| I did a job for a guy last year, his son is one of the people who had the permission to keep a pistol in this country. all he was allowed to do was practise dry firing and aiming, all live firing had to be one out of the country! the family were slowing going bust trying to fund their sons sport! |

Well seeing as Ive been training with the gb squad, all s5 pistols are kept in secure storage, not at home There has been some range days, bit it's hard to do If he's had it at home that's a big no no
One guy let someone else use his and after a video on you tube is in a lot of trouble |

pretty certain I didn't mention kept at home, as to details I was talking to the father not the son, and those were the details he gave me.

One guy let someone else use his and after a video on you tube is in a lot of trouble That's ok then, with a decent air pistol, you can mimic the .22rf pistol I use a steyr pcp pistol, 200 bar, recoil is similar to a .22rf I.e. not much So the guys can train, but need practice with a firearm to get used to the subtle differences |

This bit is quite funny -
one member of the team has a sect 5 and keeps it at home, he cannot drive and gets a lift to the ranges etc etc... The person who drives to and from cannot sit in the range during the practices as that person does not hold a sect 5. at the end of the day, the shooters gets a lift back home by the non entitled person. and the item is secured. Hummm |

Sounds like section 7.1 (after application of chinese whispers) |
