Bear with me on this.
I went out in London with some old schoolmates last night and it would be fair to say that a few light ales were consumed. I headed off towards home and told my mate to call me in morning as his hotel is right by work. At 0330 my mate is wandering back to his hotel (probably a little worse for wear) and get's stopped, searched and found to have two shotgun cartridges in his pocket (SGC and FAC holder). Promptly arrested, DNA taken, prints and slung in the cells. At midday today the door opens and he's free to go - no charges (obviously) no interview, nothing. He signs for the cartridges and his phone; which he switches on and calls home to be met with an understandably almost hysterical wife... At 0900 this morning a Suffolk Police car pulled up at his home and told his wife "your husband has been involved in a shotgun related incident in London" - and then left apparently, (and I say that as I can scarcely believe it but he has no reason to lie)... Now he's a pretty mild mannered guy but he's now a bit cross... Any ideas on way forward? |

Tell him to stand in the middle of a field and scream at the top of his lungs for 30 seconds.
Then take the missus out for a lovely meal to apologize for worrying her. The most he is going to get is a half-arsed insincere apology and it will take a fair amount of time and effort to get that (they will probably say it's standard practice etc etc). You have to ask yourself is it really worth it? |

I can see that the police detain him as he's shitfaced.
It's turning up at home that seems a bit rough as she thought he's been killed... When arrested people get three rights. These rights are pretty much gospel unless you qualify for extreme treatment. One of them is to have someone told of your arrest. AT ANY STAGE in your detention you can ask for this to happen. Normally its done by phone and you get to speak to your loved one, unless the filth think you may have stuff at home that will get lost if you do phone your wife. If thats the case an Inspector has to authorise the delay of the call and the subsequent search of the address, without any pre-warning. Sounds like he didnt want his missus informed of his arrest, not the cops not bothering. |
